Congress let CHIP expire on Saturday by not holding a vote to reestablish the program’s $15-billion appropriation. No biggie, it’s just the Children’s Healthcare Insurance Program insuring 9 million children in the United States.
Remember this about Trump: He’ll always be a divider, never a unifier. He owes his entire political existence to a strategy designed to tear the country apart by exploiting issues related to race, culture, religion and economic standing. Absent continuous chaos, his support crumbles. That need to constantly divide explains his newfound, and laughable, loyalty to our flag. When Vietnam came calling nearly 50 years ago, Trump pigeonholed his patriotism, seeking and receiving five draft deferments, allegedly for bone spurs in his feet.
My belief, that women should not be dictated to on what they should or shouldn’t wear by French or any other public policy, is grounded in the principles of free choice. Similarly, women should not be forced to cover up to satisfy a strict interpretation by men, based upon their patriarchal cultural framework, and little girls, absolutely not!
Their complaints flow on Reddit forums, on video game message boards, on private Facebook pages and across Twitter. They argue for everything from male separatism to an end to gender diversity efforts.Silicon Valley has for years accommodated a fringe element of men who say women are ruining the tech world. Now, as the nation’s technology capital — long identified as one of the more hostile work environments for women — reels from a series of high-profile sexual harassment and discrimination scandals, these conversations are gaining broader traction. One of those who said there had been a change is James Altizer, an engineer at the chip maker Nvidia. Mr. Altizer, 52, said he had realized a few years ago that feminists in Silicon Valley had formed a cabal whose goal was to subjugate men. At the time, he said, he was one of the few with that view.
“Those documents have led to the deprivation of rights for many students – both accused students denied fair process and victims denied an adequate resolution of their complaints,” the department’s acting assistant secretary for civil rights, Candice Jackson, said in a letter Friday. (Poor guy babies – raping and abusing females forever and getting away with it – one guy maybe falsely accused and the world has to stop being better? Total BS pimping for rightwing white guy votes!)
Council president Rogério Giannini, a psychologist based in São Paulo, said its 1999 decision prohibiting “sexual conversion” therapy had already faced off other legal actions and even a proposed bill in Congress.“There is no way to cure what is not a disease,” Giannini told the Guardian. “It is not a serious, academic debate, it is a debate connected to religious or conservative positions.”He noted that the ruling also said academic research into sexual conversion therapy should be allowed, which the council has never banned.“We have no power over research,” he said. “The way it was put by the judge gave the impression that we prohibited research which is not true.”As hashtags like #curagay (“gay cure”) trended in Brazil, Twitter users used memes and GIFs to ridicule the decision.“They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no,” tweeted one Brazilian using the name Ubiratan.
As part of its digital campaign strategy, AfD has even brought on American consultants with the Harris Media advertising agency. The Texas consulting firm specializes in customers with “controversial” messages who range from Donald Trump and the gun lobby to France’s far-right Front National. Their task is to adapt Kunkel’s print campaign for the digital world. Two Harris employees have also embedded themselves in the digital “war room” inside the AfD’s national headquarters in Berlin. But it appears that the American pros are running into hurdles — with one of the most important advertising platforms around. Officials with AfD have complained that Google is blocking large parts of its advertising campaign. “We aren’t having difficulties with any other platform,” said campaign manager Kunkel. He said that Facebook and Twitter are treating AfD like a normal customer. “But Google is sabotaging us, creating a disadvantage for us relative to our political competition.”Dividing the Pie Between Google, Facebook and TwitterThe dispute shines a spotlight on the role the U.S. Internet giants are playing in the current German election. For the first time, the criteria used by major American internet platforms to decide on what paid political content can be disseminated to their users — and what cannot — is playing a central role in a German election.
Soros has been the target of several right-wing, anti-semitic conspiracy theories, but it is not clear exactly how same-sex marriage in Australia relates to this.At least two other anti same-sex marriage pages have linked the vote to another right-wing conspiracy theory, cultural Marxism.Australian Christian Lobby not worried about marriage campaign vilification law Read moreMany readers took issue with a Facebook post from the Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher, which listed five reasons not to vote for same-sex marriage, saying the vote would affect freedom of speech, religion, education, association and employment. The post attracted many comments, with several pointing out the vote would not affect any of these things: “Come on Archbishop, you know that the vote is not about any of these things. As a trained lawyer you must understand that changing the definition of marriage in the Marriage Act does not affect any of these freedoms. Please don’t be dishonest with the public.”We only received one submission involving a pro same-sex marriage Facebook post, which was from an individual’s account rather than an organisation or page.
Tired of editors giving assignments overwhelmingly to men, Ms. Zalcman created Women Photograph to address the imbalance. The database lists 650 women in 87 countries. It includes 40 in Africa, 37 in Asia and 38 in the Middle East. To not include women from those areas, she said, “almost seems like a mathematical impossibility.”Melissa Lyttle, president of the National Press Photographers Association, called Nikon’s marketing attempt an “egregious slap in the face to advancement that’s happened in the past 20 years in our industry.”She said she had worked for paternalistic editors who did not want to send a woman into harm’s way by giving her dangerous assignments. Other women have said they had to overcome sexual harassment, insular networks of men, and being pigeonholed into specific stories.
