Erdogan accuses EU of ′crusade′ against Islam | News | DW.COM | 17.03.2017 Last refuge of a fascist is to accuse others of being fascists!

For her part, German Chancellor Angela Merkel denounced Erdogan’s latest round of accusations. The Turkish president accused Merkel this week of supporting terrorists in the anti-Erdogan Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).”I don’t intend to participate in this race to trade provocations,” she told the German regional newspaper “Saarbrücker  Zeitung.” “The insults need to stop,” she added in comments printed in the paper’s Friday edition, referencing Turkey’s Nazi comparisons aimed at the Netherlands.Merkel stated that Turkish political leaders are permitted to appear in the country under certain conditions: they must disclose who will appear and for what goal, and the foreign politicians must abide by Germany’s laws and constitutional principles.”We do not give anyone a carte blanche for the future,” she added. The chancellor’s comments came the same day the city of Hannover scrapped a Friday rally organized by the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) at which a senior Erdogan government official was set to appear. The last-minute cancellation indicates tempers could get hotter and the Turkish-Germa

Israel lashes out at Palestine activists | The Electronic Intifada

After being held for over seven hours, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s Lanning was told he would be denied entry because his activities were “hostile to Israel.”No further explanation was provided to Lanning at the time he was expelled, but before he returned to London the following morning, Israel’s immigration authority and the ministry of strategic affairs had released a statement saying Lanning was deported because of his efforts to advance the boycott of Israel.Strategic affairs minister Gilad Erdan, who leads the country’s effort to thwart the Palestine solidarity movement, said he was working with the interior ministry to deny entry to those “acting against Israel.”“Reality is changing,” Erdan said. “No sane country would permit entry to the main activists calling for its boycott and who work to leave it isolated.”“They do see us as a threat and I don’t think they know what to do,” Lanning told The Electronic Intifada.Last month, the Israeli government refused to grant Human Rights Watch’s new Palestine director, Omar Shakir, a work permit, claiming that the decades-old organization was producing “Palestinian propaganda.”The Israeli ministries called the Palestine Solidarity Campaign a leader in the efforts to “delegitimize Israel” in Europe, adding that its website was “rife with calls to boycott Israel,” the newspaper Haaretz reported.

Trump’s planned foreign aid, UN cuts would diminish US influence | Americas | DW.COM | 15.03.2017 – “Make Room for Daddy Putin” says #LoserTrump

Retreat would leave vacuum

What could also loom on the horizon is a diminished US role in the United Nations after Donald Trump had not only made plain repeatedly that he holds the UN specifically and multilateral organisations generally in low esteem, but since his administration has so far also clearly kept the UN at arms length. That’s why it does not come as a big surprise that according to media reports the Trump administration could drastically slash its contributions to the UN.This is important because Washington was not just the driver behind the founding of the UN, but again is also the organisation’s biggest individual contributor – which gives the US big sway in what’s happening there.  “There are lots of problems with the United Nations, but perhaps the Trump administration could use their energy to help reform and changes,” said Tingley. “But a retreat from participation in the UN is just going to open up a vacuum for other countries that the US would rather not have as much in charge.”

Rep. Steve King’s Tweet Gave Away the GOP’s Dirty Little Secret | Dame Magazine

A white nation is first and foremost concerned with citizenship. In order to create a white nation, you need only white citizens. To do that, you need to not only control who is allowed into your country, but how the citizens and residents of your country can reproduce. It’s no coincidence that the same party that demands we “build the wall” and “Ban All Muslims” has been leading the charge in restricting reproductive rights.

Supporting BDS is enough to get detained by the cops in Israel these days | +972 Magazine

For Jews, well-primed with three generations of post-Holocaust trans-generational trauma and intellectually weakened by their educational system’s abject failure to transmit their rich, fascinating, millennia-old history and culture preceding the Holocaust, this is the result — in Israel at least (and to a much lesser extent in the diaspora): a fearful people, led by a fear-mongering and increasingly authoritarian prime minister, who have become so detached from the norms of civil society that they inform on a fellow citizen who expresses a dissident opinion. Now where have we heard of that kind of behavior before?

Native American and indigenous rights: “There is no word for wall in our language” | In English | EL PAÍS

The Tohono O’odham – the name means desert people – have lived on both sides of the border since their lands were arbitrarily divided between the United States and Mexico some 160 years ago. Around 30,000 members of the nation live in Arizona. Meanwhile, several thousand more – and the majority of the nation’s sacred sites – can be found in Mexico.Trump’s wall would be a coup de grace for a nation whose territory doesn’t respect international borders and the Tohono O’odham have taken the fight to protect their lands to the Washington-based Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

“If they build the wall, it will be over my dead body,” says Verlon José, Vice President of the Tohono O’odham nation.

Steve King (#LoserTrump does not disown him), Hurling Insults at Immigrants, Is Rebuked by His Own Party – The New York Times

Mr. King, 67, represents the most conservative corner of Iowa, and has long held policy positions rooted in deeply conservative beliefs, especially concerning immigration, which he once deemed a “slow-motion Holocaust.”He has often said he was made aware of illegal immigration as a small child by his father, the one-time mayor of a small Iowa town who taught him to take a hard line. Mr. King dropped out of Northwest Missouri State University to run a construction contracting business, and ran for the State Senate in 1996 when he first cottoned to the idea of an English-only America, something he would push for legislatively throughout his career.“Our language is getting subdivided by some forces of the federal government,” Mr. King once said. “It is time to speak with a common voice. The argument that diversity is our strength has really never been backed up by logic.”He has argued vociferously, long before Mr. Trump ran for office pushing strict anti-immigration measures, including against protections for young adults brought over as children who have been successful in America, a group many Republicans support. In 2006, he suggested a complex plan for building an electrified wall at the border, noting that this was a practice used to control livestock. In 2012, he compared immigrants to dogs.

Raped, beaten, exploited: the 21st-century slavery propping up Sicilian farming | Global development | The Guardian

An Italian migrant rights organisation, the Proxyma Association, estimates that more than half of all Romanian women working in the greenhouses are forced into sexual relations with their employers. Almost all of them work in conditions of forced labour and severe exploitation.Police say they believe that up to 7,500 women, the majority of whom are Romanian, are living in slavery on farms across the region. Guido Volpe, a commander in the carabinieri military police in Sicily, told the Observer that Ragusa was the centre of exploitation on the island.“These women are working as slaves in the fields and we know they are blackmailed to have sex with the owners of the farms or greenhouses because of their psychological subjugation,” he says. “It is not easy to investigate or stop this from happening, as the women are mostly too afraid to speak out.”Many of the Romanian women leave children and dependent families at home and feel forced into making the desperate choices that have carved deep lines of grief into Bolos’s face.“Where I come from in Romanian Moldavia, nobody has a job,” says Bolos, as she nurses her five-month-old daughter in a dark warehouse that is now her home on another farm in Ragusa province. “The average salary there is €200 a month. Here you can make much more, even if you need to suffer.”

The Coded Racist Language of Betsy DeVos and Ben Carson | Dame Magazine

Now, it must be said that neither DeVos nor Carson have expressed anything remotely radical: Their attitudes fall within the paradigm that the best way to fix the Negro Problem is to vehemently ignore it.Long before DeVos was ever considered for the position as Secretary of Education, states like Texas have long tried to put a spin on the atrocities of slavery by referring to it as “unpaid work” or a simple side issue of the War of Northern Aggression. This is to say nothing of the way U.S. History is taught in so many classrooms across the country—apparently Black folks dropped off the face of the Earth from 1865 to 1955. What were we doing? Sitting around eating watermelon while White folks made America great until Rosa Parks decided she was too lazy to move to her ass to the back of the bus? That’s what we do, according to White America, act divisive when we don’t feel like doing any hard work.Whether this nation admits it or not, our country lives and dies by the parameter of White savior, the Lazy Negro, and everything in between. It plays out in how we view ourselves as well as how we view one another. Non-Black American POCs measure their success by their proximity to whiteness—just how far can one distance themself from the those gosh-darn Negroes and their yucky African slave blood? It’s how a White person has the audacity to claim their immigrant ancestors have showed strength and resolve that the enslaved ancestors could not because all my Black ancestors had to do was “a little bit of manual labor for a bit” and they couldn’t even do that right. It is this narrative that allows, and even encourages, the exclusion of Black communities and any group unfortunate enough to fall within its spectrum from American perks. Because it is our insolence and aversion to hard work that states that we do not deserve the opportunities that the land of opportunity offers, and it was this narrative that drove Ben Carson to not only claim enslaved Africans were immigrants, but in the very same speech, to make this simple statement: “We do no favors for anybody. There are no extras for anybody.”

Trump Ally Farage BUSTED at Secret Meeting with Wikileaks’ Assange, White House Won’t Comment #TraitorTrump, #LoserTrump

Trump, Farage, Mercer, And Assange Sittin’ In A Tree?

Donald Trump’s mate Nigel Farage visited the Ecuadorian embassy in London, Thursday, Buzzfeed reported, publishing a photograph of the United Kingdom Independent Party politician leaving the building. Buzzfeed reporter Marie Le Conte apparently surprised Farage as he exited the embassy from what was supposed to be a secret meeting. Le Conte asked Farage why he had visited the Ecuadorian embassy where Wikileaks curator Julian Assange has dodged extradition for sexual assault charges in Sweden since 2012. Farage responded that “he couldn’t remember” what he had been doing in the building that he was exiting after being there for 40 minutes. So Farage’s trip to the embassy where a self-made pro-Russian international saboteur is hiding was like when you open the refrigerator and stare at all your food asking yourself why you opened the fridge.
