CENSORED NEWS: Navajo Medicine People Oppose Horse Slaughter ‘The Horse is our Medicine’

“The horse is our medicine,” states the resolution of the Nahooka Dine’, traditional Navajo medicine people opposing the slaughter of the horse. The resolution was passed by traditional Dine’ practitioners gathered at lower Black Mesa.

“The Horse is our medicine and has helped us survive many hardships, they must be given respect and honored for their sacred place within the Creation, as they possess the same fundamental right to Life as we, Five Fingered Ones do,” says the resolution passed with 32 in favor and none opposing on Aug. 26, 2013.

Nohooka Dine’ said the capture, imprisonment and slaughter of horses threatens traditional Dine’ spirituality and culture. Further, the medicine people said that the Navajo Nation government’s support of horse slaughter violates the way of life and being of traditional Dine’, the Ke’.

Nahooka Dine’ said the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples requires both the Nation Nation and United States governments to consult with Indigenous Peoples who are guaranteed the right to free, prior and informed consent.

Leland Grass, Dine’, told Censored News, “The resolution was passed by the Elders and Medicine people, most of them don’t know how to read and write, or speak english.

IPS – U.S. Neocon Hawks Take Flight Over Syria | Inter Press Service

In an echo of the tactics they used to promote U.S. intervention in the Balkans, Iraq and Libya, a familiar clutch of neo-conservatives published a letter Tuesday urging President Barack Obama to go far beyond limited military strikes against Syria in retaliation for its government’s alleged use last week of chemical weapons that reportedly killed hundreds of people.

Signed by 66 former government officials and “foreign policy experts” – almost all of them strongly pro-Israel neo-conservatives – the letter, which was released by the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI), called for Washington “and other willing nations [to] consider direct military strikes against the pillars of the Assad regime” as part of more ambitious strategy to support “moderate” Syrian rebels and dissuade Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

U.K wants ‘all necessary measures’ authorised at U.N. – The Hindu – So Cameron can look good and tough!

If it worked for Tony Blair, it should work for me who wants to get re-elected too!

The Cameron government does not want to wait till the United Nations forensic inspectors, currently in Damascus, submit their report. The U.K. is submitting a resolution to the Security Council of the United Nations to give it the opportunity to “live up to its responsibilities on Syria”, the Prime Minister’s office said in a press statement, “while condemning the attack by the Assad regime, and authorising all necessary measures under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter to protect civilians from chemical weapons”.

www.german-foreign-policy.com – German Uber-Nationalism, as others just will not grow up

Germany, Germany above Everything

According to Baring “the Germans,” on the other hand, “are perhaps the most important people of Europe.” Their refusal to recognize this fact has also led to only the third stanza of the national anthem being sung. That is not normal. Baring predicts that in the future, the first stanza “Germany, Germany above everything” can be expected to be sung again. This brought him great applause from the audience in Berlin. According to a report, “how many in the audience had deeply identified with this historian’s appeal for a German national pride, liberated from the encumbrance of the Nazi past, could be seen by the thunderous applause he received.”[10]

From Lynas to Pollan, Agreement that Golden Rice Trials Should Proceed – NYTimes.com

Pollan- I am willing to get behind a G.M. product that offers the world something great, but I’m not at all sure this is the killer app everyone thinks it is. It seems to me the focus should be on alleviating poverty and improving diet. As is so often the case, the G.M. product ignores contexts — cultural, nutritional, etc. Will people eat bright yellow rice — that supposedly takes longer to cook, in places where fuel is scarce? Maybe. (They won’t eat brown rice, which already exists and is far more nutritious.)

I’m not afraid of it, I just think it’s another glittering Western techno fix. I’m prepared to eat my words if it really saves millions of lives, as Nina Fedoroff rather unscientifically projected. That said, I certainly think the research and testing should go forward. We deserve to find out once and for all if this shining promise can live up to the hype.

Me? I still think it is mostly about a techno fix that will cost more in long run and about money for sellers of the rice seeds and chemicals.

Syrian Crisis: Stories Not Learned from Iraq | Egyptian Streets شوارع مصر

Today, in 2013, the international community is no different. More than 100,000 Syrians have been killed in violence that has rocked the country ever since protests erupted aimed at overthrowing Bashar Al-Assad.The USA’s Secretary of State John Kerry stated “Let me be clear. The indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, the killing of women and children and innocent bystanders by chemical weapons is a moral obscenity.”100,000 Syrians had been killed, before John Kerry decided to watch “videos on social media” of the atrocities that occurred after an alleged sarin gas attack on Ghouta earlier this week. Chemical weapons attract the attention of the USA, the UK, Turkey and others; but indiscriminately shooting or blowing up 100,000 Syrians does not warrant the same condemnations or the same threats of intervention.Complicating matters, reports have indicated that both the rebels and the Assad regime have used chemical weapons, showing that Syria is more complex than the white-and-black approach certain countries are taking. In the coming days or weeks, it is likely that bombs will be dropped on Damascus aimed at stopping the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime. It is also likely that the reasons for finally intervening in Syria will be scrutinized and written in history as another failure of the international community to act.

Tokyo ‘would be key player’ in any Asian conflict | South China Morning Post

Hard to say if I can take much more of this war mongering without getting sick and… but not worth the spew. Maybe it’s a strange alignment of stars that’s making all these guys argue for war, when what is needed is work, better healthcare and food!

“The crisis that Japan faces now may lead to situations in which the country may have to be involved as a main player,” Onodera told a symposium in the capital.

“Japan [now] needs to have a good defence to protect the country, which can mean equipment, new aircraft, defence systems or cyber protection.”

Onodera said Tokyo needed to be wary of the mainland’s expansion in the South and East China Sea.
