Hyundai makes hydrogen from organic and plastic waste – Darcy Hitchcock

Hyundai is using a proven waste-to-hydrogen process to power their vehicles. They envision having small facilities at their manufacturing sites so that they don’t have to store or transport hydrogen.

It is the world’s first facility to produce 500 kg of hydrogen per day using 60 tons of food waste and to operate hydrogen cars in an integrated commercial manner.

“Horrible People” on Gobblers & Masticadores

Happy Saturday! Hope you all had a great holiday season.

I’m excited to share that my short story, “Horrible People,” has been published today on Gobblers & Masticadores. Thank you, Manuela Timofte, for publishing it! Please visit Gobblers and explore all of their literary offerings.

By the time the grandfather clock chimed midnight at the foot of the stairs, the guests were floating high on champagne and cocaine. Sammy Taylor, the raucous rock star whose parties were infamous for their endless flow of alcohol and drugs, raised his glass and boomed, “Happy New Year, you drunken deadbeats!”

The guests raised their glasses in mindless imitation, echoing, “Happy New Year,” and broke into a slurred rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.” Hugs and kisses made the rounds, handshakes sealed commitments for lucrative contracts in the year ahead, and light ribbing between enemies eased tensions.

Sammy pulled his girlfriend closer to his side. Their matching long blond hair and gleaming smiles reflected a perfect match. “Amanda and I are selling out and moving to France! No more Hollywood rat race for us!” He pointed his finger at director Kale Osgood. “I expect to receive a check from you by the end of the week, Kale, for all the money you owe me. I’ve let it slide too long.”

A low rumble passed through the guests. “But, Sammy,” Osgood protested. “It’s not my fault people stopped going to the movies. It’s all crap, I tell you, crap!”

“Yeah, well, you help produce that crap. Get another profession.”

“Are you going to keep paying my child support?” ex-wife Blair demanded.

“Are you going to let me see my kids?” Sammy countered. “This once-a-month deal is a joke. I’ve been more than generous with money, Blair. Now, let me see my kids!”

Sammy caught sight of Sweet Armstrong weaving clumsily through the guests. “What about my rent, Sweet? You haven’t paid it for six months.”

The aging actress stopped and nervously laughed. “Now, Sammy, you know times have been tough. But Kale has come up with a great idea, and–”

Sammy held up his hand. “You’re as big a loser as he is. You haven’t made a picture in years. Get out of my sight, Sweet, and out of my house. I’m putting it up for sale.”

Sweet burst into tears. Kale Osgood pushed past horrified guests to take her in his arms. “Come on, Sweet, let’s get out of here. You can stay with me. It’ll be like old times.” The couple hurried out of the room with heads held high. . .
