Movement in Life – Kaushal Kishore

The human body, designed to move,

Thrives in its rhythm, its natural groove…

Its organs dance when we engage,

In the timeless act upon life’s stage…

.

Mobility, strength, and balance entwined,

Movement’s essence, perfectly aligned…

Yet, rest and pause, we must not forget,

Lest over-exertion, our bodies regret…

.

In social dance too, where minds unite,

Physical and mental benefits, both ignite…

Connections forged, both deep and strong,

In shared energy, mobility, we belong…

.

Shared laughter, tears, and experiences too,

Lightening burdens, with a friend or two…

Encouragement and joy, a precious find,

Teaching resilience, and progress of mind…

.

In harmony we move, a societal art,

Learning to sync with an open heart…

Embrace the dance with those nearby,

In movement’s power, our strength lies…

.

„Lerne, spontan zu handeln…“ – Leben als Mensch

Abendstimmung

DANKE, DANKE, DANKE…

Rainier Cherry Watermelon Salad | snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Palatable Possibilities: Rainier Cherry Watermelon Salad! I’ve been in love with the taste of Rainier Cherries from my first bite. Truth be told, my love affair began long before it, though. I saw a beautiful blue French bowl overflowing with golden sunset cherries dipped in pink petal blush on the cover of a magazine. I was smitten, as with most things French, no matter the cost. I imagined the natural sweet allure as tempting as the charisma of dark chocolate. Once I grew past being spellbound, I knew I would treat myself to a pound of Rainier cherries once a year. Perhaps that is why this variety is known as the “Champagne of Cherries”.

RAINIER CHERRY WATERMELON SALAD

Ingredients:

2 cups watermelon, seeds removed, cut into chunks

1 cup Rainier cherries, halved with stems and pits removed

1-2 jalapeño peppers, sliced

2 tablespoons red onion, roughly chopped

3 tablespoons lime juice

Sea Salt, optional…

A Happy Reunion Day For Many!!! | Filosofa’s Word

Three very special people landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where they were greeted by President Biden and Vice President Harris at 11:45 p.m. last night.  These were people who had been held in Russian prisons and were part of the historic prisoner swap involving seven nations negotiated this week.  They are Evan Gershkovich, 32, who had spent 16 months in a Russian prison; Alsu Kurmasheva, 47, a Russian American editor for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, who was also arrested last year; and Paul Whelan, 54, a former U.S. Marine arrested in 2018. The three reunited with loved ones on the tarmac, beaming, hugging and posing for photographs. It is their first time home since they were detained in Russia.

Released with them were five German citizens and seven Russian citizens. All of those people, who were flown to Turkey as part of the negotiated exchange, had been in prison in Russia on charges that their home countries had strongly disputed the validity of.

Eight Russians are being returned to Russia from the United States, Slovenia, Norway, Poland and Germany.

This is, no doubt, a very happy day for many families both here in the U.S., and around the world.  The details and the questions can come later … for today, let us just be happy for them all.

Local activism in Jamaica continues as International Seabed Authority meets on deep sea mining – Petchary’s Blog

Why am I writing about deep sea mining, yet again? Well, it is partly to let you know that tomorrow (Friday, August 2) there will be a demonstration against deep sea mining on the Kingston waterfront downtown, outside the Jamaica Conference Centre where the International Seabed Authority (ISA) is meeting. Do come and support this amazing group, any time between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The meeting is organised by the Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance and the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council (JCCYC).

This will be the last meeting of the ISA for the year, after all; it has been agreed that the next one will be in March 2025, rather than November.

The other reason for I writing this is because I want to pay tribute to the impressive group of young people, who have come together over the past two or three years and, increasingly, consolidated their efforts as they seek to inform and explain why they are deeply opposed to deep sea mining. There are many names to mention, but I have to single out Dahvia Hylton, the incoming President of the JCCYC, whose laser-sharp focus and gritty determination have been commendable. Her colleagues – Robyn Young, Scientific Officer at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Department of Life Sciences’ Centre for Marine Sciences, who is also Projects and Administrative Coordinator for Jamaica at the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Caribbean; and Chief Executive Officer at Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) Dr. Theresa Rodriguez-Moodie – have kept up the pressure.

Israeli Strike Kills Celebrated Al Jazeera Reporters – Havana Times

Al Jazeera reporter Ismail al-Ghoul and camera operator Rami al-Rifi were killed in a targeted Israeli airstrike as they were covering the death of Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza City’s Shati camp. Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary broke down on air as she deplored her colleagues’ murder.

Hind Khoudary: “We do everything. We wear our press jackets. We wear our helmets. We try to not go to anywhere where it’s not safe. We try to go to anywhere where to keep our security. But we have been targeted in normal places where normal citizens are. We’re trying to do everything, but at the same time we want to report. We want to tell the world what’s going on. It’s heartbreaking to report this today, and it’s heartbreaking to report Shireen’s killing, Hamza’s killing and Samer’s killing. And this is not the first time we’re doing this, but every time it feels as if it’s the first time. It’s a great loss for us here, journalists in Gaza, and especially Al Jazeera’s team losing such a colleague.”

Al Jazeera pledged to pursue justice for its slain reporters and the more than 160 journalists who have been killed while covering the war on Gaza. Al Jazeera’s managing editor, Mohamed Moawad, posted a message he had recently received from Ismail al-Ghoul. It read, in part, “Let me tell you, my friend, that I no longer know the taste of sleep. The bodies of children and the screams of the injured and their blood-soaked images never leave my sight. The cries of mothers and the wailing of men who are missing their loved ones never fade from my hearing.” Al-Ghoul added, “I am tired, my friend.”
