Interview with Hotel Masticadores

I’m pleased to share that my interview with editor/author Michelle Ayon Navajas appeared live today on Hotel Masticadores. Thank you, Michelle, for honoring me with such a rewarding experience! Please visit Hotel and show them your support.

Here’s the first question and response:

When I realized that 65 of my poems had been published, I thought, Wow! That’s enough to publish a book! I used Atticus to design and create the inner content. The connecting theme was that all the poems had been previously published, so I used that as part of the title. Having no common theme like “nature” or “love,” however, made it harder to choose the categories. I dedicated the book to my daughter, Ariel, who has been inspiring me since she was born, and chose the poem I wrote for her, “Ariel’s Song,” for the title. After that, I searched for an appropriate image in the public domain to use for the cover that would look inviting, calming, soothing, and ethereal. I enjoy creating my own book covers because it’s fun, and I know what effect I’m trying to achieve.

Antarctica’s ice loss may have reached an irreversible tipping point – Earth.com

…Mathieu Casado, a paleoclimate and polar meteorologist at France’s Climate and Environment Sciences Laboratory, said data from dozens of ice cores has allowed him to reconstruct temperature patterns in Antarctica dating back 800,000 years.

Casado’s research showed that the temperature rise of the last 50 years was clearly outside natural variability, highlighting the role of industry in producing carbon emissions that drive climate change.

Antarctica’s global impact

In a fitting conclusion, Gino Casassa, a glaciologist and head of Chilean Antarctic Institute, stated: “What happens in Antarctica doesn’t stay in Antarctica.” His words serve as an important reminder that everything is interconnected in our world.

♫ Something ♫ | Filosofa’s Word

The video is from the promotional clip for Something that was shot in late October 1969, not long after Lennon privately announced that he was leaving the band. By this time, the individual Beatles had grown apart and so the film consisted of separate clips of each Beatle walking around his home, accompanied by his wife, edited together. The four segments were edited and compiled into a single film clip by Neil Aspinall.
