Health Minister Hamad Hassan recommended a total two-week lockdown to stem the alarming rise in daily detected coronavirus infections, but authorities say it finds it difficult to impose another lockdown amid an unprecedented economic collapse.

Lebanon registered a record 1,006 cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, the government announced Sunday, amid a sharp increase in infections and deaths due to the new coronavirus.

Madrid introduces new restrictions as COVID cases continue to spike

Spain has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Europe, and Madrid is the worst-hit region. From today, more than 850,000 people in the Madrid region will face limits on travel and sizes of groups.

“There are 37 basic areas where the incidence is very high, over 1,000 for every 100,000 people in the last 14 days”, said Madrid regional government chief Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

“We are aware that if do not take these measures, the situation will be worse in a few days”, said Ignacio Aguado, the deputy premier of the Madrid region.

Under the new measures, people will be allowed in and out for essential activities such as going to school or work, or to care for dependents. Social gatherings are reduced to six people and public parks will remain closed. Capacity at stores and other commercial establishments is set at 50%.

Map of climate threats where you live

For NYT Opinion, Stuart A. Thompson and Yaryna Serkez mapped the most predominant “climate threat” in each county:

This picture of climate threats uses data from Four Twenty Seven, a company that assesses climate risk for financial markets. The index measures future risks based on climate models and historical data. We selected the highest risk for each county to build our map and combined it with separate data from Four Twenty Seven on wildfire risks.

Got me thinking about Tim Meko’s maps of natural disasters.

I’m talking about those, who were told, that, if for no other reason, you should do it for The Courts.

I remember their snide response:

“ You can’t scare me with the Court.”

You’re not scared by the plethora of right-wing, unqualified judges that Moscow Mitch has packed into the Judiciary?

Countless White men who want to do nothing but, turn back the clock of this country to 1920.

So, for all your Millienials and Generation Z folks who couldn’t get excited by Hillary….

I hope you enjoy watching your rights just be stripped away from you.

44 told you that Democracy was on the ballot in 2016….but, you couldn’t be bothered to listen to him either.

Ain’t nobody got time for the foolishness of anything other than a Voting Plan that includes how you’re going to get an additional 5 people outside of yourself to the polls.

That’s it. That’s the bottom line.

November 3, 2020 is the showdown for the American Experiment.

If you don’t know which side you need to be on….just shut up and go away.

“When you cut down the trees you assault the spirits of our ancestors. When you dig for minerals you impale the heart of the Earth. And when you pour poisons on the land and into the rivers – chemicals from agriculture and mercury from gold mines – you weaken the spirits, the plants, the animals […]

Phages: the tiny viruses that could help beat superbugs

Bacteriophages were superseded by modern antibiotics, but scientists believe they could be key to conquering antimicrobial resistance

It is, say enthusiasts, the cure that the world forgot. An old therapy that could take on the new superbugs.

Discovered in 1917 by French Canadian biologist Félix d’Hérelle, phages – or bacteriophages – are tiny viruses that are natural predators of bacteria. In many countries they were supplanted during the second world war by antibiotics but continued to be used for decades in eastern Europe.
