As CA COVID-19 rates surge, Sacramento doctor speaks out | The Sacramento Bee

Dear Sacramento: Please, stay home for the holidays. I am making this plea because I’ve seen what can happen if you don’t. I’m a Sacramento Emergency Medicine doctor who volunteered in New York City after COVID-19 devastated that city. Now I’m watching the cases in Sacramento double every two weeks as our healthcare infrastructure nears a breaking point. I’m asking you to stay home because I don’t want to see any more preventable death. I care about you and your loved ones, and I know healthcare providers like myself need your help. Thanksgiving gatherings and quarantine fatigue have poured gasoline on the flames of the pandemic. Sacramento County recorded 280 cases of COVID-19 on Nov. 7 and 1,183 cases on Dec. 7. Nearly all of the hospitals in the Sacramento area are near or at capacity and have enacted surge plans that include opening up new Intensive Care Units, pulling staff from non-emergent services to COVID-19 units and canceling surgeries.

Memoria del Agradecimiento…

Gratitude is good for health, it stimulates the brain, that part where substances such as dopamine are generated, causing us to feel good, that feeling of satisfaction, which is like a drug, strengthens the health of the body, lowers the levels of the cortisol hormone, making the hypothalamus look favored, as it secretes other substances that improve neuronal functions. But apart from the benefits that it leaves in health, in our human relationships, thanking God, the universe, or whatever you want to call it, in an act of kindness, makes us vibrate high, the more you thank, the more you attract it to your life. same, (it would happen the same if we complain, more of that dose that we do not want would come) As simple as it is to show sincere gratitude, everything is simpler, feel at peace, calm, in harmony being grateful.

Memoria semántica (hechos) Memoria procedimental (destrezas)” (selecciones.com.mx.)

Losing My North Star

yaskhan

Poetry finds me
Holding my grief....stained red
In the hush of loss...the blood that brought me to life
Silence that aches. ...deep
Candling the flame of time that will not come back.
Like a bruise on my soul
A reddened firelight
In the inside of a teardrop
The unbroken breath of memories
That flow from an old photo album
Eyes fill up
Dissolving in the salt of quiet release.
In the solitude of being
I remember and hold
In the heaven colored stars that shine
Severing a bond
suffering a social distancing
Infinity and beyond
Press pause...fingers of wild loneliness fasten
For a heart stopping moment
Life decides to go away.
