Observatorium

Lignes invisibiles

The initial idea was to take a small walk around the neighbourhood. Without even noticing how, we ended up in the centre of the huge market with old objects and clothes, watching the people walking like insects so close next to each other – yes, touching themselves while walking next to each other. They would not even be aware that they would touch themselves. Their eyes would rather stick on the various objects lying down on the floor. You see in these urban markets touching others or passing them is something normal and one would expect something like that to happen even before going there. How weird this scene feels now, months later; the market is empty for days, many days. The small distances between human bodies are now a forgotten thing and even the memory of this scene of the past time feels so bizarre.

Back then we ended…

Face Cover Fashion

Nengkoy

Aside from tourism, airline and restaurant industries, one of the badly hurt industries smacked by the ongoing pandemic, I believe, is the lip-cosmetic industry.  With the mandate (at least in my country) that everyone needs to wear facemask and face shield when in public, only a few people would venture into putting lipstick on.  Also, my poor country being at the end of the queue among the countries where Covid19 vaccine would be made available, a totally different apparel has evolved during this time of contagion.

The style and fashion of wearing face covering has been born!  Sorry to those who still do not believe the existence of Covid and would aver and persist for their freedom to choose not to wear one, I particularly is in favor of wearing a face covering.  It is not for the mere fact that it prevents the spread and snagging the virus, it…

Barbara Crane Navarro

illustration from “Amazon Rainforest Magic – The adventures of Meromi, a Yanomami girl”

Barbara Crane Navarro’s passion and concern for the Yanomami and the nature they depend on is clearly illustrated in her words and art in these little books. Who on this planet does not have a stake in what happens to the Amazon Rainforest ?

Sharing these children’s books insures that new generations will pay attention to the fragility of life in the rainforest and to the indigenous people trying to maintain their way of life where they have lived…

It Never Rains… #California #HappyNewYear

penned in moon dust

“So this is Sunny So Cal. “

“Welcome – we’ve had better days. Right now you can’t see the sun. Pollution always prevents you from seeing it from several parts of LA but the beach is beautiful.”

” What’s that smell?”

“Hmm well we are very close to the ocean and presently there is beach scum a weird phenomenon probably caused by reversed global polarity.”

“Yeah we have noticed in the East that our weather is off but we never smell anything like that.”

” Let’s skip the trip to the coast today. There are other places that I thought you might take me . How about Disney?”

“Yes that’s always a good place to visit but they have posted the limits and the park is already full for the next week.”

” How is that possible?”

” People stay or they are waiting in line until their turn comes…
