Congress Is Under Attack

What an remarkable collection of statements & events. This is not going away. Any elected official who supported this coup effort must resign or be removed from office. How can you “secure Congress” when members of Congress are part of the effort to subvert it? Source: Congress Is Under Attack

Can Twitter and Facebook censor Trump in the name of democracy?

Privately owned companies cannot censor – governments can censor or not. Both companies have terms of use contracts/rules that users accept when they register to use the service. Violate the terms of use/service and you are gone. Same as baseball – if you break the rules, you’re out of the game – sometimes forever!

Although we find the censorship of the still-president of the United States sympathetic and fair, we must not forget that the world’s two most powerful social networks are actors with political and economic interests.

Jamaica looks to Cuba, India, China for more COVID vaccines | Lead Stories | Jamaica Gleaner

Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton says more than 16 per cent of Jamaica’s population could be vaccinated against COVID-19 this year, if efforts to secure safe vaccines outside of the COVAX Facility materialise.

The Government has targeted some 480,000 Jamaicans (16 per cent) to be vaccinated in 2021 under the COVAX Facility.

“The idea is to see to what extent any sort of government-to-government arrangement would allow us access to some of their vaccines coming out of those countries where manufacturing takes place,” Tufton told The Gleaner last evening.

The minister announced in the House of Representatives yesterday that the Jamaican Government would be seeking to obtain safe vaccines from China, India and Cuba to protect the population from the virus.

India will send a limited quantity of Covid-19 vaccines to neighbouring countries for “emergency use authorisation” under the grant-in-aid programme while commercial supplies will only take place after the vaccines get market authorisation. El Paso man gets prison in Black Lives Matter video death threat (Karma…)

An El Paso trucker who posted a racist video online that threatened to kill Black Lives Matter protesters was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison, officials said.

Manuel Flores, 43, displayed an AR-15-style rifle in a YouTube video, saying he wanted to kill Black protesters.

“My dream is at least … take out at least 200 (N-word), (F-word) savages out,” Flores said in the video, according to a criminal complaint.

In the video, Flores allegedly said that he had “500 rounds” and would be traveling east on Interstate 20 through Dallas and dared Black Lives Matter activists to “stop him,” officials said.

Flores has been in custody since FBI agents arrested him while he was traveling through Dallas on June 15.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas said that Flores pleaded guilty in October to a federal charge of posting a threatening communication over the internet.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone of El Paso sentenced Flores to 21 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
