Bats & pangolins in Southeast Asia harbour SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses, reveals new study – Outbreak News Today

While the World Health Organization (WHO) continues its mission to Wuhan investigating the origin and early transmission of SARS-CoV-2, a new study led by scientists from Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, shows that SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses (SC2r-CoVs) are circulating in animals as far away as Thailand. The study, published in Nature Communications today, reported that high levels of neutralising antibodies against the virus were present in both bats and pangolins found in the Southeast Asian country. The study further indicates that more SC2r-CoVs are likely to be discovered in the region. Southeast Asia with its large and diverse bat populations may be a more likely hotspot for such viruses.

In the study, the team examined Rhinolophus bats in a Thai cave. SARS-CoV-2 neutralising antibodies were detected in bats of the same colony and in a pangolin at a wildlife checkpoint in Southern Thailand.

There is so much to see and do in the world. We can not do anything even if we want to. But,we can also do a lot within our limits. Limits do not always stop. The problem is not through having boundaries, not knowing them. On working, it is known that the real limit is in our own mind. — My experience

We all have our limits. But is it right to throw all your failures at those limits? The problem is that we do not even do what we can. A lot of big things can be created in the realm of boundaries. Actually, the boundaries tell us what we can do, what we can do […]

F is for Focus

“Be the change you wish to see in the world”

– Mahatma Gandhi –

What we focus on expands. Tony Robbins said “Energy flows where attention goes”and whether the energy is positive or negative this is true of everyone. No one is exempt from this universal law.

If you want to become a musician for example, then you must place your attention on that. In doing so your energy will flow there.

In order to achieve success, you have to practice by visualizing and then becoming the thing it is that you want. If you direct your attention towards this thing then the energy inside you flows directly to it.

This means you have to do the things a musician would do. You must write music, learn instruments, practice singing, learn about the mixing equipment and find places to practice live in front of people…

How the COVID-19 Pandemic Is Reshaping the Education Service (focus on Japan)

This chapter reviews the rapid expansion of digital transformation in the education service and explores, in detail, the two main trends in digital transformation in the education service in Japan. These trends are the expanding of distance education and increasing innovation in educational technologies. The discussion further reflects on prior studies questioning the impact of digital transformation on education; it also anticipates and explores the effects of and concerns about the digital transformation in the education service. Finally, the chapter includes a discussion on how to address these concerns and maximize the digital impact. It indicates three concerns of the digital transformation in the education service: (1) poor motivation management, (2) negative effect of IT devices usage in education, (3) educational inequality by digital divide. They can be overcome by changing roles of instructors and further investment in ICT infrastructure in the education service. The discussions in this chapter give insight into how the education service might evolve after the COVID-19 pandemic. The distance education is becoming a new normal in the education service. However, the education community in general is not ready to maximize the merits of distance learning. We need to change the role of instructors from a knowledge teacher to a learning motivator and progress manager. In addition, we need more investment in ICT infrastructure in the education service to enhance educational effects. Source: How the COVID-19 Pandemic Is Reshaping the Education Service
