Covid vaccinations: No reason to stop using AstraZeneca jab, says WHO – BBC News

Countries should not stop using AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine over fears it causes blood clots as there is no indication this is true, the World Health Organization says. Bulgaria, Denmark and Norway are among the countries that have paused its use. But on Friday a WHO spokeswoman said there was no link between the jab and an increased risk of developing a clot. Margaret Harris said it was an “excellent vaccine” and should continue to be used. Around 5 million Europeans have already received the AstraZeneca jab. There have been about 30 cases in Europe of “thromboembolic events” – or developing blood clots – after the vaccine was administered. There were also reports that a 50-year-old man had died in Italy after developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The WHO is investigating the reports, as it does any safety questions, Ms Harris said. But no causal relationship had been established between the shot and the health problems reported, she said.

COVID-19: Morocco Orders 1 Million Doses of Sputnik V Vaccine

Morocco’s Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb confirmed the news in a statement to the Spanish news agency EFE.

The Spanish news outlet reported on Thursday that Ait Taleb said that Morocco is set to receive the first batch of the Russian vaccine in March and another in April.

The Moroccan minister, however, said that the scheduled date will depend on “Russian commitments to other countries.”

Reuters reported this week that Morocco approved both US Johnson & Johnson and the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccines.

Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo Co. said Friday it has started manufacturing the COVID-19 vaccine of Britain’s AstraZeneca Plc in Japan, as reports emerged in some European countries of blood clots in people receiving the vaccine.

The GOP Gets More Pathetic

In Saner Thought

Since 1980 I have thought he GOP was a pathetic excuse for a political party….they lean on cultural BS instead of policies.

But with the passage of the American Rescue Plan has brought about a news dimension of pathetic.

Like one of my Senators from the state of Mississippi, Roger Wicker. (of cortse he is a GOPer and a Trump sycophant)…..after the signing of the ARP he takes a victory lap…..

After voting against the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, GOP Sen. Roger Wicker was singing its praises.

“Independent restaurant operators have won $28.6 billion worth of targeted relief,” he tweeted after the bill passed in the House on Wednesday, after previously passing the Senate.

“This funding will ensure small businesses can survive the pandemic by helping to adapt their operations and keep their employees on the payroll,” Wicker added.

Ordnance Spitfire in the Pacific War | Pacific Paratrooper

Spitfires ensured that the Allies gained and held air superiority during the battles of Kohima and Imphal from early to mid 1944, in which the Japanese attempt to destroy the British 14th Army and invade India was also defeated. By 1945, when the Allies launched offensives into Burma, the Japanese were unable to challenge the Allies’ air supremacy. Spitfires took part in the last major pitched battle of the war involving the Western allies – No. 607 Squadron and No. 273 Squadron flying the MKVIII armed with 500 pound bombs helped destroy a Japan breakout attempt at Sittang Bend in July and early August 1945.
