Mudskippers

Weekend Stories by Trishikh

BrothersKadaandMatiwere abandoned as babies on the muddy banks of the riverGangesin theShovabazararea of nostalgic North Kolkata. While some thought them to be the unwanted seeds of a prostitute from neighbouringShonagachi, Asia’s largest flesh-market, others believed them to be Demigods, sons of the GoddessGangesherself.

It was a wet and cold August night in 1980.Chandrabhanu Pal, a local idol-maker was on his nightly rounds collecting a special kind of glistening river clay for his unique idols. This special clay could only be found at particular spots, where Mudskippers wiggled and aired it to an ideal texture most suitable for the master’s sculptures.

On that chilly moonlit night, while searching for this very precious clay,Chandrabhanusaw something on the muddy riverside, that would change his life forever.

C.D.C. Says 3 Feet in Elementary Schools With Masks Is O.K. – The New York Times (misleading headlines support public disbelief about everything – thanks but no thanks NYT)

The three-foot rule also now applies to students in middle schools and high schools, as long as community transmission is not high, officials said. When transmission is high, however, these students must be at least six feet apart, unless they are taught in cohorts, or small groups that are kept separate from others.

The six-foot rule still applies in the community at large, officials emphasized, and for teachers and other adults who work in schools, who must maintain that distance from other adults and from students.

FBI Needs Help

In Saner Thought

My past situations have made me no fan of the FBI…..but after 06 January and the moronic insurrection by Right wing idiots the FBI has asked help from the public to identify some of the criminals that attacked law enforcement officers in and around the Capitol…..I shall put me bias on hold.

I admit it I was a radical back in the day and as radical as I was in my politics we NEVER considered the actions that was taken by this pack of idiots on 06 January….for that reason I have decided to help the FBI spread the word and in doing so maybe we can make the bastards pay for their actions.

So in the spirit of help preserve the republic I will assist in some small way…..

Capitol Violence

The FBI’s Washington Field Office has released new information and videos of suspects in the most egregious assaults on federal…

VEM comigo!

“We live fighting with reality, at the same time that we forget to live life, and when we realize it is late, only the residue is left”, and the shadow of who we were. So, don’t waste your precious time, with the wind curve, or with the fact of being enchanted by the leaves fallen to the ground. Rather, make your days what poets do with your verses “make them fertile”. Then try to fill the emotional gaps with ambition! .. Madness is not believing that we can make each day a unique spectacle.

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Outrage as 172 Republicans vote to oppose Violence Against Women Act | The Independent

One day after seven women were killed in attacks across three massage parlours in Atlanta, Georgia, the US House of Representatives voted to reauthorise the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The act, according to the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), “creates and supports comprehensive, cost-effective responses to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.” The act was originally authored by the now-president Joe Biden, but had lapsed two years ago. Representatives voted 244 to 172 in favour of the bill, largely along party lines, though 29 Republicans joined the Democrats in supporting its passage.

Native American communities make vaccines available for all Oklahoma residents | Coronavirus | The Guardian

As Covid-19 infection rates tick up again in several states, indigenous communities in Oklahoma are reporting a different problem: not enough people to vaccinate.

Earlier this month, several Native American communities, including the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Osage and Choctaw, opened up free vaccinations to all Oklahoma residents, not just the hundreds of thousands of nation members spread across the midwestern state.

Increasing availability from the Indian Health Service of the three coronavirus vaccines currently approved in the US, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, also allowed the nations to push immunizations into more areas, many of them rural and remote.

Now, however, several nations are reporting they have supplies far in excess of demand.

“We’re running out of people to vaccinate,” Brian Hail, head of the Cherokee Nation’s vaccination program, told the New York Times this week. “We’re struggling to get people to come in.”

Procrastination: Causes and Ways to Overcome

Shayan's Sphere

How often it happens that we indulge ourselves in a work and after spending few hours if we are unable to get the very result we desire, we postpone the same for some other day. Procrastination is no doubt an attitude problem. The twenty-four hours in a day are not less actually, but they become so only when we’ve so many excuses. There are several reasons why we procrastinate. A few of them are described in brief as follows—

(I) Fear of failure and criticism:

Fear of failure is one of the most notable reason that makes us to procrastinate. We blindly believe that we need to have all the preconditions ready to be more creative and to do something in the best possible way. A little bit of hindrance in the way stops us from going ahead. However, in reality there is little logic behind what we think in…
