Rătăcirile fetei nesăbuite

Gran Paradiso enjoys a reputation for being accessible to beginners (accustomed to the sport), but it still means more than just an ordinary hike.

ore de drum

Gran Paradiso, 2017

Japanese Unit 731

Invasion, occupation and war has brought out the worst in humans…

Pacific Paratrooper

Main complex for Unit 731

Warning !!  There are pictures in this post that may be very upsetting.

In the 1930s-‘40s, the Japanese Empire committed atrocities across Asia, such as the Rape of Nanking. German crimes such as human medical testing committed in concentration camps tend to receive more attention than Japan’s crimes against humanity, as more research has been done and more historians have spent time looking back and studying these horrific acts. However, the Japanese too played a part in human medical testing in a secret project called Unit 731.

Begun in 1937, Unit 731, located in Harbin, China, was created with legitimate intentions by the Japanese government. Started as an agency to promote public health, Unit 731 was meant to conduct research that would benefit Japanese soldiers, such as learning more about the ways in which the human body can withstand hunger and thirst and fight diseases…

The Filibuster Debacle

In Saner Thought

The biggest story in the US Senate is that of the ‘tradition’ known as the filibuster…..well that was until the murder trial sucked all the air out of actual reporting.

Image

As it stands any bill debate to be passed will take 60 Senators for it to pass….I recently took a closer look at the drama around trying to end this archaic ‘tradition’……https://lobotero.com/2021/03/17/kill-the-filibuster/

The attempt to end this waste of valuable time…..

The myth is that it is needed to protect the minority….but that is BS pure and simple…..

Central to the argument for preserving the filibuster are two assertions. One is that it is needed to protect minority rights. Two, the filibuster encourages compromise. The reality is, neither of these claims are true and in fact its repeal may promote both goals better than retaining it.

The filibuster rule is a product of slavery politics, as was true of the…

Coronavirus: Angela Merkel backs short national lockdown | News | DW | 07.04.2021

A German government spokeswoman on Wednesday said the chancellor was in favor of a short nationwide lockdown to help stem rising coronavirus figures.

As Germany struggles to tackle a third wave of the COVID pandemic, and amid a sluggish vaccination campaign, several leaders of German states have backed calls for a period of strict restrictions.

“Every call for a short, uniform lockdown is right,” said deputy government spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer. “Also, a common nationwide approach would be important here.”

The differing rules across the country’s 16 states “is not contributing to security and acceptance at the moment,” she added.

Karana: Creating Asia’s first whole-plant based alternative meat brand

Karana is the Singapore food start-up positioning itself as Asia’s first whole-plant-based meat brand. Its flagship product — a pulled pork substitute — is made entirely from jackfruit, oil and salt, without processed ingredients or preservatives. Started in 2018 as demand for meat alternatives was growing, Riegler said he saw a gap in the market for meat substitutes designed specifically for Asian cuisines.
