Lemony Lemon Cake

It’s pillowy soft and lemon zested mightily both inside and outside the cake. And that is what giving this cake that lemony bunch in your mouth after every bite. Yes, you can taste that sweet and tangy lemony taste in every bite.

Lemony Lemon Cake

Lemon is more like spring & summer scent for me than just for summer. I had my first lemon poppy seed cake a few years back. But I never baked one by myself. This is the first one with some changes to the basic cake version. And it didn’t disappoint.

Loughan Bay Ruins, County Antrim

Michael Stephen Wills Photography

We pulled off the side of Torr Road for this fine view on the way to Torr Head to take in this view of the Irish Sea. The steeply rising distant headland is the Mull of Kintyre. Loughan an Lochan, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Roofless walls of a cottage more substantial than the other deserted ruins above Loughan Bay, with two fireplaces a walled porch with a view. A number of outbuilding foundations lay around. Beyond is the island of…

Dreams

Dreams are yesterday and tomorrow…

Shayan's Sphere

At times when in my life I fall
With frail and splintered wings,
And the spectral night from stillness calls
My solitary heart that sings;
With grief and pain when days I spend
Under dull and dreary skies,
And one by one each sweet song ends
With nightmares in my eyes,
Like a warbling Thrush in a summary morn,

Through echoing woods and streams,
To an ethereal land and mystic place
With the tranquil flow of dreams.
And suddenly then from fall I rise
With pristine hopes in breast,
And revive my strength with sanguine eyes
To fight and give my best.
And again, again I work in lone
Beneath the silver beams,
And shatter and smash each odious stone
To wake my slumbering…

History, Trauma, and Education: The Historical Legacies of Colonialism and Apartheid and the Necessity of Rethinking Education

Within the South African societal context, education must be aimed at empowering children by teaching them how to transcend their pain and trauma, by helping them heal, by helping them reconnect with themselves. For decades, education was used as a tool in this country to manipulate and control people for the benefit of a few. If education can be used to damage then, it can also be used to heal. Accordingly, if education has the potential to heal then, it has the potential to be the process through which South Africa heals by simply focusing on healing its prospective leaders, its children. By simply helping our children transcend their pain and trauma through education, South Africa, in time, can transcend its own.
