France to ban some domestic flights where train available | Air France/KLM | The Guardian

French MPs have voted to suspend domestic airline flights on routes that can be travelled by direct train in less than two and a half hours, as part of a series of climate and environmental measures.

After a heated debate in the Assemblée Nationale at the weekend, the ban, a watered-down version of a key recommendation from President Emmanuel Macron’s citizens’ climate convention was adopted.

It will mean the end of short internal flights from Orly airport, south of Paris, to Nantes and Bordeaux among others, though connecting flights through Charles de Gaulle/Roissy airport, north of the French capital, will continue.

FDA to Deal With Heavy Metals in Baby Food

The FDA will embark on a multiyear program to determine acceptable levels of heavy metals in baby food, in the wake of reports that showed them at high concentrations. The FDA announced its plan, “Closer to Zero,” on April 8. It will evaluate the science and propose appropriate levels for lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic, in consultation with manufacturers, consumers and other stakeholders. The situation became notorious when reports surfaced, including one from a congressional subcommittee, showing high levels of heavy metals in baby and toddler food products from major manufacturers. Legislation was introduced to set limits, and at least five processors were hit with class-action lawsuits in several states.

Blend it like a Thali — chapter18

Every late evening, before retiring for the day, my mother would boil a litre of milk, allow it to cool under the fan that is set to rotate at the highest speed and then do an obnoxious act of pouring a scoopful of butter milk on to it. The mix is then closed with a […]

Blend it like a Thali — chapter18

during these days of the pandemic, it is the capacity to blend new skills with traditional wisdom that would help one survive and emerge stronger in every department of life. While discharging office responsibilities, the tactic is to seamlessly integrate the conventional method of work with the online interactive meetings that would ensure continuity at job. And at the personal level, it is the blending of household chores, recreational activities and creative endeavours that would keep us in fine fettle. The teachers are blending their delivery with online learning tools to supplement the chalk and talk method and the brick and mortar businesses are seamlessly integrating with e-commerce model. Religious services are delivered on Goggle Meet for the rituals that are conducted physically and payments received via bank transfers!. That’s blending of the most innovative kind!

The age of blending has indeed arrived and is here to stay…and the future is of those who embrace it willingly!

Dance Me to the End of Love

I rarely traveled to London, but always by train from Paris. And, each time, on my return, after an identical ceremony, I fall in love with Paris again.

ore de drum

Fontevraud, 2015
