We can learn from the seasons how to be in reciprocal relationships. Disharmony abounds when we refrain from being reciprocal. A farmer can’t reap if he doesn’t sow. If you want to harvest you have to plant the seeds, tend to the plants, water them and in due time you will reap your reward. Ill gotten gains will rend a hole in your pocket

Listen To Your Favorite Podcasts With Our New Audio Player | Inoreader blog

An RSS Reader like Inoreader can be used for many things besides reading. One use case we see frequently is to follow podcasts. Those feeds usually have embedded audio files that you can listen to. Normally, you read an article, then close it, and move to the next. However, podcasts are usually 60+ minutes long. Because Inoreader allows you to mix your reading and listening simultaneously, we want you to have the freedom to close the current article and continue interacting with Inoreader while your podcast plays in the background.

This week, we are launching our upgraded background audio player! You might have noticed already that audio files inside articles are now embedded before the article.

How pandemic responses neglected disabled people’s rights

The few existing studies on disability and disaster recovery highlight the importance of working with disabled people to build their requirements into emergency planning from the outset. But it’s clear this lesson hasn’t been learned. In most countries, disabled people were at best an afterthought, and often their needs weren’t considered at all. What’s often missing from popular narratives about disabled people are stories about their resilience. Disabled people’s organisations have been vital in many countries in distributing food, PPE and health information in the absence of official support. Unfortunately, by continuing to stereotype disability as a medical problem or a tragic experience, society fails to recognise the social factors that make disabled people vulnerable in the first place.

Spillway Falls with Hemlock

The Dry Creek dam is across the upper, eastern, end of Fillmore Glen. Historical records of the dam construction must exist someplace. My opinion is, somewhere in the federal bureaucracy there is a record proving this dam was constructed by Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. That is when the gorge trails were dramatically improved and it is logical a dam was necessary to control water flow during times of heavy rainfall and the spring thaw, to allow a full appreciation of the gorge beauty. It is a substantial concrete structure with cast iron controls, two spillways: one never, the second always flowing. This day the reservoir is full, frequented by beavers, stocked trout, herons, blue jays, crows, hermit thrush. The reservoir banks are thick with wildflowers of the season. This afternoon I noticed purple flowering raspberries: a past prime bloom or two, ripe fruit growing in the late…
