Let’s talk American History

The Mind of Brosephus

American history has been a hot topic as of lately, primarily because of Republicans striking out against what they’re calling “wokeism”, revisionism, or whatever the code word is for the day. There’s been a lot of crap being spewed from the Tennessee Republican claiming the Three-fifths Compromise was passed to end slavery to Tim Scott claiming America isn’t a racist country.

Individually, the statements that have been made are outrageously stupid and wrong. Collectively, these statements all feed into the cult-like behavior Republicans now exhibit where up is down, the sky is green, and grass is blue. This is dangerous because this creates a society ignorant of its own history of accomplishments and mistakes. You can’t know who you are if you don’t what you have and haven’t done.

So, first up is Rick Santorum and his statement on Native Americans. The easiest and quickest way to disprove his statement…

Wondering Wednesdays, Baby Acres, Chapter 1, part 1

W. Edwards Deming pioneered similar planning method: Plan, Do, Study, Act in early 1950’s while working in post-WWII Japan on improving their productivity and quality. – PDSA Cycle https://deming.org/explore/pdsa/ – He wrote an article for me long ago.

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This post begins the rough draft of  Chapter 1 of my non-fiction WiP, Baby Acres.     The overall goal is now to explain why we need both equ. + justice, & why in 4 phases.  This chapter will transition to a chapter (2-5) for each phase, showing what Phases I-IV could look like as part of a possible roadmap for a fully inclusive society for all of us.  This vision is laid out in the hope that All HumanKind  will eventually have each person’s basic needs  met, without taking anything from anyone, and without violence, intimidation, nor coercion of any kind.

Chapter I

I’m still updating the detailed outline for the first chapter, as I revise several versions of the other chapter outlines.  Sorry I have no new words yet.

Last week was the sixth installment of this series…

Action Items:

1.) Consider some ideas you…

A small post. – The Grief Reality “Let’s stop being so hard on ourselves.”

Let’s stop being so hard on ourselves. Mum always said we have a poison parrot on our shoulder who says stuff like “you should have tried harder”, “you should have done more” or “don’t do that again.” It compares yourself to other’s too: “They wouldn’t have done that”. Life’s hard enough without an eternal war in your head. Source: A small post. – The Grief Reality

Women in Puerto Rico Demand Action After Surge in Femicides – Havana Times

In Puerto Rico, hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets in recent days in response to the femicides of 27-year-old Keishla Rodríguez and 35-year-old Andrea Ruiz. Ruiz’s body was found Friday, covered in burns. Her ex-partner confessed to her murder. Ruiz had sought protection against him, but the courts denied it. And Rodríguez — who was pregnant — was found lifeless floating in the San José Lagoon Saturday after being reported missing the day before. Prominent boxer Félix Verdejo Sánchez, who represented Puerto Rico at the 2012 Olympics, has been charged with Rodríguez’s murder. Feminist leaders are demanding Puerto Rican Governor Pedro Pierluisi take action against skyrocketing gender violence on the island.

Levitating

Can’t not dance to the music and the poem…

Inhale Peace; Exhale Love. Joy will Follow! - RUELHA

I’m just so happy to write this poem for so many reasons. Firstly, this song by Dua Lipa is just so fun. It’s not from my usual old depressing ancient song collection. It’s on the top charts currently both internationally as well as in India. The version I am obsessed with however, is the Indian remix of it, featuring Sukriti Kakar and Prakriti Kakar. It has these typical amazing Indian beats and instrumentals added in the background. Later, as the song progresses, it goes full bhangra with hardcore Punjabi beats and a few Hindi lines in between. I can’t stop playing this song. And guess what? This is the first music-inspired poem I am writing that falls into both – Western Music-Inspired as well as Bollywood-Inspired. Fusion is so fun. For my friends abroad, please listen to this version. I guarantee you’ll like it, if not find it better. 😉
