The Conqueror

Shayan's Sphere

Those who conquer ruthlessly lands,
Oh, those conquering never-ending aches and,
Gaining glorifying victories that momentary stay,
Will exist with detestation in the synonymous way
In which the funeral ashes commingle with sands.

Oh, those culpable for melancholy tears,
And those responsible for prolonged fears,
Enjoying engagements that rise like storms,
Will earn nothing but mutely last,
And exist with hatred in the synonymous form
In which the cremation ashes merge with dust.

But those who vanquish innumerable hearts
Keeping in mind no abominable thoughts and dirt;
Oh, those spreading the art of brotherhood,
And those conquerors who conquer through love,
Will last eternally in the synonymous mode
In which the sun and moon lasts perennial above.

Teardrops of the sun

yaskhan

Draining silver of the clouds
To spin on a flaxen breeze,
Raindrops catch the golden light-
Teardrops of the sun

Singing in the summer rain
Fallen blooms paint the sidewalk
A wind chatters to the birds-
Nectarine murmurs

Sky misses a heartbeat, as
A rainbow slips a rendezvous
Into sapphire whispers-
An airbrushed prism

Suffusing emerald trees
Breathing boundless horizons
Where the sky paints its own dreams-
Auroral crescent.

Somos algo

google translation of title: We are something. Good thoughts to think on.

Santiago Galicia Rojon Serrallonga

Santiago Galicia Rojon Serrallonga

Nurses’ Union Is “Outraged” With the CDC’s Relaxed Masking Guidance – Mother Jones

“This newest CDC guidance is not based on science, does not protect public health, and threatens the lives of patients, nurses, and other frontline workers across the country,” NNU Executive Director Bonnie Castillo said. “Now is not the time to relax protective measures, and we are outraged that the CDC has done just that while we are still in the midst of the deadliest pandemic in a century.”Source: Nurses’ Union Is “Outraged” With the CDC’s Relaxed Masking Guidance – Mother Jones

Internal riots more concerning than rockets, says Ashdod hospital’s head – The Jerusalem Post

Riots that are pitting Jews and Arabs against each other in Israeli cities are even more concerning than rockets from Gaza, Dr. Erez Barenboim, general-director of the Samson Assuta Ashdod Hospital, has said. Some Arab workers at the hospitals had to be escorted out of their villages by the police and were offered housing in the city until the situation calms down, he added.
“I am more concerned about the riots in the mixed towns than from the missiles coming from Gaza,” Barenboim told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday. “Internal stability is crucial for the development and the security of Israel.”
“As a country, as a people, we can defend ourselves from rockets, but we need to be united,” he added.

A Dry Piece of Paradise

Love the desert – thanks.

Michael Stephen Wills Photography

A hellish shriek assaulted the cold 3 am darkness.

The scream was instantly recognizable. Anything but terrified, after a confused scramble I reinserted the pin into a personal security device hung from my backpack. Wrapped in a silly waffle weave blanket, tossing restless in the cold, the pin lanyard hung up then pulled free. Several minutes had passed with that sound flowing out over the canyon, calling all carnivores to breakfast.

I had drifted off with the wind shaking my tent like a drunken prankster and now all was totally and absolutely quiet. In spite of the cold, the inadequate blanket and the imaginary creatures looking for the source of that scream, the next two hours sped by in a fitful doze.

Agave Heart

At 5 am I crawled out to find the thinnest crescent moon imaginable gracing the eastern sky, kept company by a century plant silhouetted against the…

30 Second Evictions

A Lawyer's Prayers

Legal gavel, Author Blogtrepreneur (CC BY-SA 2.0 Generic)

Since the coronavirus pandemic, health concerns have moved eviction hearings online.  At least 43 states now allow virtual evictions; 7 states mandate that eviction proceedings take place online.

Unfortunately, online evictions often deprive tenants of their rights [1].

CDC policy bans residential evictions for non-payment of rent through June 2021.  Many landlords have though continued to file evictions.

The CDC eviction moratorium can only be raised as a defense at an eviction hearing.  The CDC eviction moratorium (enacted under the Public Health Service Act of 1944) has, itself, been struck down at least four different times [2].  And CDC policy does not apply when a lease has expired (a fact unscrupulous landlords exploit).

During virtual evictions on video platforms like Zoom, internet connection issues are common; multiple tenants may appear on screen at the same time; and participants are often muted.
