Expectation and Dependency

Inhale Peace; Exhale Love. Joy will Follow! - RUELHA

I believe expectation and dependency are two of the main causes of unhappiness. Think about it; if you're dependent on somebody, your life can be a heap of crappiness. If you earn your own living, there's no need for obligations and thanksgiving. If you have your own accommodation, you are in a very good situation. If you have the freedom to make your own choices, you'll learn how to ignore the noises. If you're emotionally independent, you'll have more peace and may be pleasant. If you can do your jobs yourself, And you don't need to implore for help. If you have health at your side, you can take care of yourself with pride. And after being independent, if you still have expectations, you are the one to blame for those complications. If you expect people to care about you, you seriously need to change your view. If you expect…

Poetry ~ Books my muse

Smiling Little Things

Some I read, though some I forgot,
On an impulse some I bought,
Slowly and gradually they became my muse,
I looked at them and wondered, what they held in profuse.

From an age of 5, I remember them being at my side,
Many plans made and cancelled for diving into the wise,
Some I read, though some I forgot,
With some I made memories when they hooked me to their plot.

As life took turns, for years I lost touch with them all,
They laid there in my cupboard, and kept calling me on,
They have a big heart I must say,
Whenever I came back to them they showed me the right way.

I go back home, tired from the world to find my roots,
The relationship rekindles with that shelf and all those nooks,
Books from my childhood, books from my teens,
Books I read re-read to…

They Still Walk Among Us … WHY???

Lock the guilty up!

Filosofa's Word

The majority of the people who have been charged with attacking Congress and the Capitol on January 6th are not in jail.  On average in the U.S., only about 25% of people charged with a crime are released while awaiting trial, but among this bunch of thugs and white supremacists, 70% are out on bail at this time.

Eric Munchel, known as “Zip Tie Guy”, who was photographed wearing tactical gear and carrying wrist restraints in the Senate chamber, was released in late March, along with his mother, after an appeals court questioned whether he posed any danger outside the specific context of January 6th.

Richard Barnett, the Arkansas man photographed with his foot on Nancy Pelosi’s desk, was released in late April, nearly two months after screaming during a court hearing that “it’s not fair” that he was still in custody when “everybody else who did…

Tireless Dream

Lyrical smile

Open eyes, restless night, heavy heart. There are small dreams in burdened minds that dare to grow. There is insanity in everyone. A ray of sunlight in dark rooms ignites hope and leaves. A smell of dampness reminds us that there is nothing more we yearn for. Dreams, sunlight, smell. There is madness in everyone. This is the madness that connects us with each other. We are not tired, we have not stopped. We have not become lifeless yet. Because there is madness in everyone. We are in this race to grab our degrees and stay ahead of the crowd.

Life gives us several opportunities. The question isn’t how well we succeed in it or how we never utilised it. The questions are whether we value the sacrifices of the people who led our path to that opportunity and whether we remain worthy after the fulfilment of that opportunity. Every…

Just A Bit Of This ‘N That

Filosofa's Word

I’m not ranting tonight, but just have a couple of little things that crossed my radar …

The cost of a letter

I remember when it cost a nickel, 5 cents, to mail a letter.  And then it was a dime.  Through the years, the cost of mailing a letter or a package has increased, which is to be expected as the cost of delivering the mail has increased.  However, the announcement yesterday that the cost of mailing a letter will soon become 58 cents, more than half a dollar, rattled me a bit.  Gone are the days when I can afford to buy and mail 50 Christmas cards to send to friends ‘n family.  Thankfully, there is email.  However, we still like to send physical cards to friends and loved ones at birthdays and holidays, and not all of us can sneeze at 58 cents to mail a damn…

Day 25 of GED/HiSET in Five Months, cubic numbers, and public transit

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Using public transportation in some cities can sometimes feel like solving a Rubik’s Cube: easy one day, not so easy the next, oftentimes. But the ability to use mass transit, and the availability and safety of buses, sidewalks, even frequently overlooked details like paths to the sidewalk, and sidewalk cuts, for those in walkers or wheelchairs, requires the same kind of community thinking that any democracy movement must practice.  Can cubic numbers and puzzles also teach us about finding the roots of transportation problems for others, which we ourselves may not have to worry about, but others do (like the lack of a cut or path that was no problem for me, during the day time, but presents a constant hazard for less mobile people at any time of day or night, at a certain Continuing Education campus…)?
