Why Did Costa Rica Declare A Phytosanitary Emergency Due to the Presence Of the Giant African Snail?
The Government of Costa Rica declared a national phytosanitary emergency in order to prevent the spread of a focus of the plague called, popularly, the giant African snail (Achatina fulica) and known for its great destructive capacity.
It is the second organism listed in the list of the 100 most dangerous invasive species in the world, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The alert is due to its easy adaptation to a diverse range of environments, explained the State Phytosanitary Service (SFE).

Quote I – Live your life, shape your own opinions…..
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

Bari enjoys the picturesque port open to the Levant. I have a feeling of confusion. I’m in Palermo ? The Thessaloniki ? The Izmir ? Malaga ? The Tarragona ? La Nisa ?
Bari, 2016

Vivaldi translation of introduction: Traditional South Korea
PUBLISHED ON 10. März 2018
It was on my milestone birthday that we arrived by ship in the port of Incheon, South Korea. When we disembarked, a surprise awaited us: we were received by a dance group with music and dance, and young hostesses in their traditional costume each presented us with a red rose, a nice gesture. I quickly brought the flowers to the cabin because if we were on the road all day, they would wither.

Opal Lee — Grandmother Of Juneteenth
Look at this beautiful woman …
This is Opal Lee, age 94, and on this, the first time Juneteenth is being celebrated as an official U.S. holiday, I want to tell you a little bit about Ms. Lee who is known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth. While yesterday I wrote a bit about the negativity of some racists toward the new holiday, Juneteenth, today I want to put aside the negative and focus on the positive … and the voice of Ms. Opal Lee.
When Opal Lee was growing up in Texas, she would spend Juneteenth picnicking with her family, first in Marshall, where she was born, then in Sycamore Park in Fort Worth, near the home she moved into at age 10. Ms. Lee’s paternal grandmother was born into bondage in Louisiana, and while Ms. Lee, born in 1927, was not a slave, she felt the cruel edge of racism at…

The Secret Language of Trees — msamba
No secret, we just figured out what they have been doing for millions of years. Many of our ancestors knew that trees, animals, insects, etc, talked to whomever would listen – with “modern” technology we became colonial exploiters-despoilers of the earth by believing-deluding ourselves that we are above-outside of nature…

COVID-19 Delta
What we appear to know at this point is that the Delta (Indian) variant puts more unvaccinated people into the hospital and it attacks both young and old alike. We have data on the effectiveness of existing vaccines against Delta. They do work, but not quite as well against Delta as against the original virus. The Pfizer vax was 92% effective against the original virus, but only 79% effective against Delta according to Scottish data. Those are still good numbers and most people will be helped by the vax. We don’t have comparable data for Moderna or the Johnson & Johnson vaccines as yet, but there is no reason to expect massively different results. We’ll see.
Ultimately, we will need another round of vaccination, hopefully in pill form, and this may become an annual routine. There’s no sign of the virus going away on its own.
And as we reduce…
