I awake in the calmness
of tranquil poetry
protected in love
time losing all grip over me

Intermission Story (8) – Jimmy Stewart

Commander and bomber pilot

Pacific Paratrooper

James Maitland Stewart

Jimmy Stewart suffered such extreme PTSD after being a bomber pilot in World War II that he acted out his mental distress during ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.  Stewart played George Bailey in the classic movie and channeled his anger and guilt into the scenes where he rages at his family.

Stewart was haunted by ‘a thousand black memories’ from his time as an Air Force commanding officer that he took with him back to Hollywood after the war.  Pilots who flew with him said that became ‘Flak Happy’ during World War II, a term to describe what is now known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.

Stewart wrestled with the guilt of killing civilians in bomb raids over France and Germany including one instance where they destroyed the wrong city by mistake.

Stewart felt responsible for the death of his men and especially one bloodbath where…

Vivaldi translation of introduction: Buenos Aires and the tango
21. Mai 2018
The tango, a passionate and expressive dance, is considered an authentic creation of the people of Buenos Aires, the Portenos. It probably originated more than 120 years ago in the La Boca harbor district on the banks of the Riachuelo, which flows there into the Rio de la Plata; however, the origin is not exactly known. In the 1880s, immigrants from the Mediterranean countries, Eastern Europe and West Africa danced him in the “bordellos” of the typical port district in the southeast of Buenos Aires, the Capital Federal. Dozens of small tango ensembles with flute, violin and guitar played for dance in countless small cafés and taverns. In the 1960s, bandoneo and piano were added as musical instruments. It was mostly sung by lost love, betrayal, cheating and being abandoned with heartbreaking, plaintive melodies, sometimes the dancers and musicians danced and played in halls or in backyards.

Indian Lifestyle vs American Lifestyle

Anita's Perspectives on Life

Some interesting facts

India and the USA are two proud cultures with a vast population. When we talk about two different countries it’s obvious that there must be many differences between them.

I have been to the USA many times. This time while I am here again I want to share a few of my personal experiences with all of you.

Currency difference is the main reason for people to dream about American life. One US dollar is equal to approximately 75 INR. Be it the USA or any other country if Rupee to Dollar conversion is good, most people would like to migrate offshore. That doesn’t mean they don’t love their country, but the reason may be to grow and spread their wings.

Just like the India United States is a vast country and made up of a diverse group of people. Life can vary greatly from region…

A racist myth of immigrants voting fuels claims of fraud – Los Angeles Times

The story has been used by political candidates, anti-immigration activists and election “watchdog” activists recruiting volunteers and seeking restrictions on voting. For national audiences, it has been invoked by right-wing provocateurs and broadcast by Russian trolls seeking to influence U.S. elections. President Trump falsely claimed that millions of immigrants living in the country illegally voted in 2016 and, separately, that hundreds of buses carried voters across state lines to cast ballots in the New Hampshire election.

In that same election year, the fable of the traveling voters appeared in Arizona, Louisiana and Pennsylvania. One account described voters only as Black and said they were driven into Alabama to cast ballots in a special election.

The vast majority of the stories targeted Latinos, and often in derogatory terms. In those ways, they are not unlike other bald fictions used in U.S. history to justify voting restrictions against immigrating Catholics, Irish and Chinese people, freed Black Americans and others. In the 1800s, for instance, arrivals from Ireland were accused of registering to vote as they stepped off the boat.
