Giorni perduti

le pagine dei nostri libri

Giorni perduti

ingannando il tempo

che attendeva disteso

ed attorcigliato

ai rami dolenti

come se non avesse

più speranza

di ritrovarci ancora uniti.

Tempo perduto,

tempo rubato,

tempo braccato

dalla tua voglia

di sentirti

dolorosamente

già smarrito o forse

solo per sempre,

lungo i binari della vita,

già deragliato.

Saturday Surprise — Shell Art!

Filosofa's Word

I do not have a single artistic bone in my entire body, so I am always amazed by the talent and creativity of some artists, especially the likes of street artists and others whose art is … shall we say not quite traditional.  So, I was impressed by the work of Anna Chan, a jeweler and designer. The New York-based artist, not having much work during the height of the pandemic, went to Robert Moses State Park, where she would spend her days by the beach. There she started sand sculpting as she had an idea to create 12 art pieces for a 2021 calendar. Soon this evolved into “an obsession”: creating beautiful, symmetrical mosaics and real-life animal portraits.  I hope you enjoy Anna’s creative works and that it starts your weekend out with a smile!

The portraits are so detailed that one might only wonder how long it takes…

Day 44/67 of GED in Five Months, exponential curves, and, legal education

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Aside from understanding exponential growth in populations of rabbits, and germs, Adulting often requires knowing how to defend yourself legally, for instance on a medical debt that may have expired, when you are summoned to court on it anyway: if you don’t go let them know (that the debt is time-barred), you may have ‘a hard row to hoe.’  Especially since compound interest also grows exponentially…

THREE GIANTS

Grounds For Hope

This poem is included in my chapbook, “Inconsiderate Bastard,” which proceeds to support voting rights.

Three giants changed history, Three giants with one dream. They set the path to victory with love and with strong will. Three giants with no benefactors and no guided road, full of dreams and strong beliefs got them through countless crossroads. Like any man, they wanted freedom. Though freedom isn’t free, they knew. With giant faith with voice of reason They headed to the Pettus Bridge for a better view. A quiet walk and peaceful gesture Greeted with cruelty and vicious dogs, with water cannons, rocks, batons. Determined to stand their ground, the giants kept singing their song. Bruised bodies on the ground, fractured skulls and bones. Undeserved suffering no one should ever condone. Fifty-five years ago, the men dared to hope. Martin’s vision and his dream, John’s endurance and passion held the reigns…

Nepal: Rückkehr nach Kathmandu

Vivaldi translation of introduction: Nepal: return to Kathmandu 9. März 2018
The plane returned from Pokhara to Kathmandu. We were very lucky to get a window seat on the backboard side, i.e. on the left. So we could see the whole Himalayan panorama during the approximately one-hour flight in wonderful sunshine.
