Out of control and rising: why bitcoin has Nigeria’s government in a panic | Cryptocurrencies | The Guardian (Me: When it collapses, the Bitcoin bust will make DotCom and S&L collapses look like pocket change – many “fortunes” will disappear overnight…)

Nigeria’s experience holds lessons for governments around the world, many of which are now thinking hard about how to regulate digital currencies. Britain’s chancellor, Rishi Sunak, is looking at creating a central-bank-controlled version, already being called BritcoinEU regulators have set out plans to make digital currencies more traceable, in order to combat money laundering. In rural China, rows of computers used to create bitcoin in a computational process known as “mining” are being switched off after a clampdown by the authorities. The ruling party imposed a ban on transactions in May.

Elsewhere, Egypt, Turkey and Ghana have sought to clamp down on crypto trading, wary of potentially vast movements of digital funds beyond their regulatory controls.

NMSU system revises mask guidance following CDC, state recommendations | Las Cruces Bulletin

“The latest research indicates that even vaccinated people could transmit the virus – especially the newer variants that are spreading rapidly,” Johnston said. “This step follows expert public health guidance and will help protect the health and safety of our students and workforce, as well as the communities we serve.”   Affected NMSU system locations include the Las Cruces, Doña Ana Community College, Alamogordo, Grants, and Carlsbad campuses as well as New Mexico Department of Agriculture and Cooperative Extension Service offices and Agricultural Science Centers around the state.   The updated indoor mask requirement applies to all classrooms, labs, meeting rooms, vehicles and other spaces, and to all faculty, staff, students and visitors to NMSU campuses and offices, regardless of vaccination status. In addition, unvaccinated people must continue to wear masks indoors at all times.
