Oklahoma Republicans blast GOP for COVID vaccine, Holocaust comparison

Top Oklahoma Republicans on Friday denounced the state’s Republican Party for its Facebook post comparing COVID-19 vaccine mandates to the persecution of Jewish people during the Holocaust.

In a joint statement, Gov. Kevin Stitt, Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe and James Lankford, U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, and House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, criticized the social media post that was still up as of Friday evening.

“It is irresponsible and wrong to compare an effective vaccine — developed by President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed — to the horrors of the Holocaust,” the Republicans said. “People should have the liberty to choose if they take the vaccine, but we should never compare the unvaccinated to the victims of the Holocaust.”

Louisiana hospitals reach capacity as COVID-19 cases surge | TheHill

Louisiana hospitals are running out of ICU beds as COVID-19 cases surge in the state.

Our Lady of Lourdes and Oschner Lafayette General hospitals have run out of ICU beds. Our Lady of Lourdes has resorted to converting regular beds outside of the ICU to deal with the virus, KATC ABC 3 reported.

“Part of that reason and why it’s such a high percentage of our 70 patients is we’re seeing enhanced severity of this illness in these individuals who, many of whom, are otherwise completely healthy,” Dr. Henry Kaufman, interim chief medical officer at Our Lady of Lourdes, said at a press briefing.

There are three beds open out of 156 in Region 4 of the state, with more than 1,000 people hospitalized across Louisiana due to the virus, according to the outlet.

Bad Fairy, Good Fairy?

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This is not working as I’d hoped, but does explain why we need more visions of a kinder world:

-May the pain you cause my fe rebound thrice or more unto thee, and may you understand why, just before you die.

A malicious laughter tinkled across the canyon, startling Ametis out of a focus that suddenly became embarrasing.  Wheeling around with a sharp curve of a wing, the source of the cackle now revealed itself.  Perhaps taking the form of a peregrine falcon, rather than a starling, would be a good idea right now?  A short pip called the other starlings into formation around Ametis, who was grateful that they had accepted the call of a non-physical.  Ametis, armed with support, heard the laughter became a cough.

-Ahem.  Calling down mortal curses now, are we, good little fairy?

-Protecting my human, you stain on our…
