“72nd story”

First published: Jan.03.2019

Omar Khayyam never got married and didn’t have any children. He was a tall man with a big head, quiet and recluse.

A genius who was able to read a full book and memorize it right away.

Omar was a fan of Avicenna, the Persian Polymath, and in his notes named him as his teacher and mentor. Khayyam translated one of Avicenna’s Arabic treatise about Monotheism to Farsi. In the end, Khayyam left 13 treatises.

In one of his treatises, he has a geometric solution for a cubic equation that Will Durant names a masterpiece of mathematics in the Middle Ages. One of Khayyam’s students, Hamedani, became a great poet, judge, and Gnostic who was killed because of his beliefs in philosophy.

All of Hamedani’s theories have been proven thus far. The death of Hamedani was a trigger for Khayyam to start writing…

Vivaldi translation: ”All racism, including racist culturalism dominant worldwide, needs to enslave the oppressed in its spirit and not just in its body. Colonizing someone’s spirit and ideas is the first step in controlling your body and pocket. It is useless for Americans and Europeans to proclaim their supposed innate virtues, if Africans, Asians and Latin Americans are not convinced of this. Likewise, there is no point in our money elite building a conception of country and nation if the middle class and the population as a whole are not convinced of it ”(The elite of the e-book backwardness, 2017).

Snarky Snippets From A Bouncing Mind

Filosofa's Word

Today’s snippets cover a wide … and I do mean wide … range of topics, from making fun of Mike Pompeo to cursing Andrew Cuomo.  So, fasten your seatbelts and come along for the ride!

Thanks a lot, anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers!

Worldwide, the number of new cases of COVID increased last week by 11% over the preceding week.  In the United States, cases increased by 41% … almost four times the worldwide average.  Need I tell you the reason?  Surely you understand that the refusal of some 30% of the people in this nation to be vaccinated plays a role, but perhaps even more importantly is the happy-go-lucky, not-a-care-in-the-world attitude of those who congregate on beaches, at music festivals, in theaters, shops, restaurants and bars, and refuse to wear a damned mask.  Oh yes, the U.S. claims to have a position as a world leader … we’re a world leader…

“There is no freedom where violence exists”: Emancipation Day 2021 Message from the Prime Minister of Jamaica

Petchary's Blog

As I mentioned in my last news update, I found this year’s Emancipation Day message from Prime Minister Andrew Holness hit the right note. It is very well written, weaving in the legacy of violence from slavery days and looking at the dire situation our society finds itself in now. While noting that violence “in all its forms” is wrong, with a particular focus on domestic violence, it ends with a classic Marcus Garvey quote, which is always a good idea.

Thank you for this important message, Prime Minister. I really appreciated it, and it was needed.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

183 years ago today on August 1, 1838, the descendants of trafficked and enslaved Africans, who themselves grew up in generations of slavery, finally celebrated their full freedom, as declared in the Emancipation proclamation. There are many reasons to be considered as to why the British Parliament decided…
