Belgium expected to pass law to shorten work week to 4 days – UPI.com

Full-time workers in Belgium would still work 38 to 40 hours per week, but the length of one work day would be expanded to 9 and a half hours in exchange for an extra day off.

Officials say the proposal, which is not expected to be mandatory, has widespread support among government leaders.

“In principle, we think it is good towards the freedom of the employee, but of course it has to be a choice of the employee,” Flemish Green Party Chair Meyrem Almaci told VTM News.

Damian Williams 1st Black US Attorney For NY Southern District

Damien Williams was confirmed by the U.S. Senate this week to be the next United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, the first Black person to lead the office in its 232-year history. The position makes him the most powerful federal law enforcement official in Manhattan at the age of 41 years old, according to the New York Times.

People who have held this position have gone on to be judges, senators, cabinet members and even New York City mayor, in the case of Rudy Giuliani. What is interesting about Giuliani is that the Southern District office is investigating the former mayor, a case Williams will be overseeing. He is also overseeing the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime friend to Jeffrey Epstein, who is being tried on sex-trafficking charges. The office has also taken on cases that have reached Donald Trump’s inner circle.

Thoughtful Thursdays, Stayed on Freedom’s Call page 32, and Racial Justice

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

It is crucial that we each help our society to become more fully inclusive for all of us today, and to come and work together, for all of us, right?

I believe that attention to shared histories, as in DC, may provide part of an answer.  I started a note about that, a few years ago, in my book Stayed on Freedom’s Call:

Funding for Time Banks had led to the formation of many middle class Time Banks in small towns and enclaves of larger towns, which were Time Banks mostly of the individual or person to person category.

This highlighted the problems the author noted as a member of the…

«Les chamans Yanomami qui combattent l’épidémie de xawara voient l’image de la maladie apparaître sous la forme de bandes de tissu écarlate. L’épidémie de xawara approche et sa fumée est rougeoyante! Elle fait du ciel un fantôme et dévore tous les êtres humains en son chemin! Il faut le chasser!»
