The destruction of the Amazon has caused more warming and it is possible that humans might go extinct soon
It is time for the rich to spend on clean energy and stop visiting the moon
Now that there is a plan to end deforestation
It would be good if promises would be kept and in the end we could have a celebration

November 4th – Albert Einstein
I could not possibly devote a month to highlighting wisdom, without devoting at least one day to the great Albert Einstein! Albert Einstein was the German theoretical physicist best known for his theory of relativity (E=MC2). He is also celebrated for his genius intellect and tremendous sense of humor.
I could not settle for one Einstein quote, so I am sharing three of my many favourites.
“Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s whole life believing it is stupid.”
– Albert Einstein
So true! I grew up in small town Saskatchewan where sports is everything. Athletes are the be all and end all! I went through the educational system at the top of my class intellectually. I came out of the educational system believing I was stupid because I was constantly harassed since I couldn’t (still…

Justice Department Files Lawsuit Against the State of Texas to Protect Voting Rights | OPA | Department of Justice
“Our democracy depends on the right of eligible voters to cast a ballot and to have that ballot counted,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “The Justice Department will continue to use all the authorities at its disposal to protect this fundamental pillar of our society.”
“The Civil Rights Division is committed to protecting the fundamental right to vote for all Americans,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “Laws that impair eligible citizens’ access to the ballot box have no place in our democracy. Texas Senate Bill 1’s restrictions on voter assistance at the polls and on which absentee ballots cast by eligible voters can be accepted by election officials are unlawful and indefensible.”
The United States’ complaint contends that Senate Bill 1 violates Section 208 of the Voting Rights Act by improperly restricting what assistance in the polling booth voters who have a disability or are unable to read or write can receive. The complaint alleges that Senate Bill 1 harms those voters by barring their assistors from providing necessary help, including answering basic questions, responding to requests to clarify ballot translations or confirming that voters with visual impairments have marked a ballot as intended. The United States’ complaint also contends that Senate Bill 1 violates Section 101 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by requiring rejection of mail ballots and mail ballot request forms because of certain paperwork errors or omissions that are not material to establishing a voter’s eligibility to cast a ballot. The complaint asks the court to prohibit Texas from enforcing these requirements.
Want To Know What’s In Your Water? – by Erin Brockovich and Suzanne Boothby – The Brockovich Report
We can’t solve all these issues overnight, but we can help spread awareness and give more people tools and information to fight back. The first step is knowing what chemicals have been detected in your tap water.
That’s why I’m so excited for Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) newly released update to the Tap Water Database, adding two more years of test results from nearly 50,000 water utilities across all 50 states and cataloging more than 320 contaminants.

Upside Opens Largest Cultivated Meat Facility in North America | Food Manufacturing
UPSIDE Foods (formerly Memphis Meats), the company in the cultivated meat, poultry and seafood industry announced Nov. 4 the completion of its Engineering, Production, and Innovation Center (EPIC). The 53,000-square-foot campus located in Emeryville, CA is the most advanced cultivated meat production facility in the world. It is designed to produce any species of meat, poultry, and seafood — in both ground and whole cut formats — directly from animal cells instead of relying on raising and slaughtering animals. The opening represents a major milestone in UPSIDE’s journey to bring real, delicious meat to the world in a more humane and sustainable way.
EPIC, which contains custom-made, patented cultivators, can produce over 50,000 pounds of finished product, with a future capacity of over 400,000 pounds per year. Located in an urban area filled with residences and restaurants, it establishes meat production as a proud part of the community and will enable neighbors and the public to see first-hand how cultivated meat is made. Today, UPSIDE is celebrating this historic accomplishment in a virtual grand opening ceremony.

Helsinki to go Largely Meat-Free | Food Manufacturing
Finland’s capital city says it will no longer serve meat dishes at seminars, staff meetings, receptions and other events to reduce Helsinki’s carbon footprint.
Instead, the city government plans to offer vegetarian food and sustainable local fish.
Liisa Kivela, Helsinki’s communications director, told The Associated Press on Thursday that the change takes effect in January and excludes school and workplace cafeterias run by the city of about 650,000 residents.
Kivisto said the the policy adopted by the City Council also allows deviations for certain “high-level visits or similar events” organized by Helsinki Mayor Juhana Vartiainen or the city’s senior managers.
The policy also stipulates that coffee, tea, oat milk and items like bananas offered at events will have to be sourced from fair trade producers. In addition, snacks and refreshments no longer can be served in single-use containers.
The local government said in a statement that the measure is part of a broader effort “which aims to reduce the climate impact of food and reduce the amount of natural resources used by the city.”
