Too often, the default for large solar arrays is to place them on undeveloped land. Near Orlando, there’s a 22 acre array in the shape of Mickey Mouse’s head plopped in a field near Disney World, but Disney’s baking parking lot is uncovered.
According to DisneyFanatic.com, “More than 12,000 cars can park in the Magic Kingdom’s sprawling parking lot, which is larger than the theme park itself at 125 acres.” There would have been ample room to create arrays in the shape of Minnie and Goofy too. Call me Grumpy.
Placing arrays in the desert is also popular. In California, the proposed 530-megawatt Aratina Solar Project will wipe out over 4000 Joshua trees.

Where we should put them first is on large roofs and parking areas.
