Xmas Crinkle Cookies

snapshotsincursive

Eating My Way Through the Holidays. Festive Food Gifts: Xmas Crinkle Cookies! Shortcuts are the key to success for that next cookie-exchange the kids forgot to tell you about. “Oh yeah, Mom, sorry.” No worries. Head to the kitchen to clang some pans around, preheat the oven, and dust a little powdered sugar on your nose. They’ll be none the wiser. By the time the house begins to smell like a neighborhood bakery, you’ll have rows of cookies lined up ready to be boxed. And if you’re one of those organized parents, just so you know, these cookies freeze well. Arrange them in a freezer gallon bag, layered between squares of waxed paper. I have literally taken these crinkle cookies out of the freezer and handed them to a little girl to eat. Other than being slightly chilled, they retain a chewiness that makes them simply delicious. You deserve a…

10 Things You Need To Include in Your Freelance Contract

MiddleMe

As a freelancer, you must have a contract with your clients to protect your rights and provide security for the clients requesting your service. It also helps build trust in your brand and improve their experience in working with you. It also makes your business look legitimate, especially with the government when you file your taxes and during dispute cases, if there is any.

If you haven’t used contracts before in your freelance work or you want to revise your current agreement, here are the 10 things you need to include:

Work description and services rendered – This part should list down the project scope of the project, where it will be used, how long you propose it will be worked for, and what services will be done for the project.

Payment terms – For this section, you will need to list your rates and how the client can pay…

I Just Don’t Get It 🤷

Filosofa's Word

Perhaps I’m a bit simple-minded these days, but I’m really confused over something and I’m hoping someone can make sense of this for me.  The issue?  Why is it that the United States Congress can pass, relatively without argument, a bill that allocates $768 billion for a single year to the military, in large part to purchase more tanks, guns, and nuclear weapons … hardware made with the sole purpose of killing humans … but they cannot pass a bill that would help people who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table?

To be clear, here is a summary of the major points in the Build Back Better bill (aka BBB) that congressional Republicans are determined to send to its grave:

  • Universal preschool for children
  • Free community college
  • Lower prescription drug costs
  • Tax cuts for families with children and childcare support
  • 12 weeks…

Do Better: 3rd draft comment hanger, Chapters 7, and 8

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

For those interested in helping to begin this project, I have finally finished the third draft of DoBetter, formerly known as BabyAcres, or Baby Floors, and am out of spoons. So, I am requesting volunteers to help with the work of providing feedback for this book, and preparing to send it out into the world, as yours, Intrepid Volunteers.

I’m still posting the rough draft sections on Wednesdays as a reminder and rallying point, until someone offers to build a site or portal for the set of communities to be built around this project. I offer Do Better as a starting point for guidelines over the next 70 years, with the understanding that the project must be shaped by those who come after me. Thus Do Better, while written by my hand, must be released into other hands to continue the journey. I prepare…

COVID-19 Omicron variant should make people rethink holiday plans, experts say – UPI.com

The emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the United States most likely means many people need to reconsider holiday plans, particularly if they involve friends and family members made vulnerable by the virus, experts said Thursday.

Official estimates suggest 3% of cases nationally involve the new variant, first identified in South Africa in late November, based on figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

However, the more-contagious variant is responsible for as many as 13% of infections in New York and New Jersey, a point of entry for many international travelers into the United States, the CDC estimates.

In addition, an assessment of 43 documented cases with the Omicron variant found that 30% occurred in people who not only were fully vaccinated, but also received booster doses, the agency announced earlier this week.
