Dear January, you have been doing this every year. And you look great. The beginning always looks great. You have only come to make this year look better. the calendar in January's chill spring blossoms Dear January, speak poetry and embrace me with your eloquence. Make spring bloom luminescent ...make what is empty, dark....effervescent. let nectar flow from lips of flowers and let butterflies carry their fragrant dreams into mountains, hills, brooks ,streams, oceans and high seas spreading over earth.. Speak to me Oh January Tell the moon to twirl me silver, sun ignite my fire..let the stars wrap their light. .my eyes sparkle the constellations.. Wounded fingers quiver Broken whispers of fear Let the wind be a balm To heal the sighs Of disease frightened people.

Italy to make COVID jab mandatory for over-50s, tighten curbs – draft
Italy is set to make COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for people aged 50 and above in an attempt to ease pressure on its health service and reduce fatalities, a draft decree showed on Wednesday as a cabinet meeting on new curbs was still ongoing. If confirmed, it would make Italy one of very few European countries to take similar steps. The draft also says that from the start of February until the end of March only people with proof of vaccination or recent infection will be able to enter public offices, non-essential shops, banks, post-offices and hairdressers.

Surge in COVID-19 cases among L.A. police, firefighters – Los Angeles Times
More than 1,000 police officers, firefighters and paramedics in the Los Angeles region were ill or at home quarantining on Tuesday after testing positive for the coronavirus, spurring additional concerns about public safety as the Omicron variant continues its rapid spread.
A spokesman for L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti called it an “unprecedented surge” in cases which the mayor is focused on and working to mitigate — including by authorizing additional overtime funds to cover the shifts of those out sick.
More than 500 employees of the Los Angeles Police Department — including 416 sworn officers — were at home quarantining as of Jan. 1 after positive tests, the department said. In the last week alone, the department had seen 424 new cases, officials said.
