Madeira: Spaziergang zu den Balkons von Ribeiro Frio … Madeira: Walk to the balconies of Ribeiro Frio

Stella, oh, Stella

… This was our first walk during our second travel to Madeira in January 2015. We stayed at Palheiro Village again, which we had liked so much. The walk is not noted on the map or visible on Google earth, but it is there and signposted from Ribeiro Frio.

Um dorthin zu kommen, sind wir von Palheiro Village aus so gerade nach Norden gefahren, wie möglich.

… We went from Pahlheiro Village in as straight a line northward as possible.

Para un artista, un fragmento de papel, cualquier hoja en blanco, tiene mucho significado, valor y afecto…

Lawyers Challenging Biden’s Covid Vaccine Rules Both Have Covid

two of the lawyers challenging the regulations had to make their arguments by phone because, well, they have covid. Reuters reports that Ohio Solicitor General Benjamin Flowers and Louisiana Solicitor General Liz Murrill both tested positive for the virus. Per the court’s own protocols, attorneys must get a PCR test the day before arguments and if they’re positive, they have to participate remotely, which is similar to the workplace rule issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). But Flowers and Murrill are essentially arguing that other people should have to go to work with people who aren’t vaccinated or haven’t been tested. It’s truly something.

Quakers have a practice of using questions (queries) to help focus and stimulate participation in consideration of topics such as peace, Quaker education, etc. In the tables below I’ve extracted queries from those we routinely consider that relate to Mutual Aid and added others I’ve written.

I think what I will have the most trouble conveying is Mutual Aid represents a paradigm shift away from our current situation. Away from capitalism, white supremacy, insurance-controlled healthcare, militarized police and punishment oriented judicial system, prisons, education that resists teaching critical thinking and promotes white supremacy, and domestic and global militarism. Away from commodifying all natural resources. Continuing extraction and burning of fossil fuels.

Simply put, Mutual Aid is the Quaker way of being in the world.

I’d like…
