Time is a word, time is many a moon They say time is the greatest healer This fourth dimension that moves life Irreversible sequence That writes into our soul Moving through our hearts It takes and makes Past, present Future To Take Charge of To create A now that comes Calibrating life A fleeting unstillness Touching a kind of open Living, breathing the act of being The before, the after, and maybe The instant and the constant that is time. # Double Etheree

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better
How do we build empathy?
This is the fundamental pillar of Project Do Better. I asked Violet for her thoughts on this topic, and about her children’s books: Violet’s Vegan Comics. She was kind enough to share these thoughts:

Project Do Better
Shira Dest is an ambitious woman and she has an ambitious plan. Some might say an over-ambitious plan. Some might call it impossible. But why should it be impossible? Because most people are uncaring? No. Most people care. Most people would prevent the suffering of a child if they could. So what’s the problem? Why aren’t all children safe? The problem is a society and education system that conditions children to turn a blind eye to the suffering of other animals.
The moral code by which “good” people raise their children is inconsistent. Its contradictions require that children are taught to apply the rules selectively…

Sharing love and contentment
Few things are so effective in creating well-being as feeling love and contentment inside us and sharing them with those around us.

Buon appetito.

It’s The Law, Maaaan
I was working on a post for today … a rather dark post, as it were, for Black History Month … and I came across something that pulled me (temporarily) out of the rabbit hole I was in and made me chuckle. So, I will finish that post for later today, but meanwhile I think we could all use a bit of mid-week humour!
Understandably, many of the laws from centuries past don’t make much sense today, though no doubt there was some logic behind them back in the day. But today, they are just funny as heck and most often not enforced but remain on the books anyway. For instance, in North Dakota, by law, bars and restaurants cannot serve beer and pretzels at the same time! And in Hartford, Connecticut, it’s against the law to educate dogs! No obedience school for Fido there!
Some of the laws are…

Flatbread Fiesta
What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Cheerful Choices: Flatbread Fiesta! Do you ever tire of the same old pizza choices? I get in a rut the same way everyone else does. About that time I stand in front of the freezer, door open, peering into its contents searching for ideas to try something extraordinary. Sure, I’m the one buying the groceries (and should know what’s in the house) but that’s when I surprise myself with unexpected specials. Chorizo is one of those impulse items that make it into the cart. I often fry it up, crumble it for meals later on, label it, and then store it in the freezer for another day. It’s at times like this I pat myself on the back with congratulations for having such foresight.

Tijavanako, Bolivija – Tiwanaku Bolivia — Myrela
