Barack Obama Releases Statement On Russian Invasion of Ukraine
A Voice From When News Was News
I often miss the newscasters of yore, people like Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings, Diane Sawyer, John Chancellor, the team of Huntley-Brinkley, and more. One who is still around, though no longer serving as a news anchor, is Dan Rather. His periodic newsletters are insightful and informative, and today I share his latest, his take on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Reacting to War
Dan Rather and Elliot Kirschner
Feb 24
The world spins.
The sun sets on a nation under attack.
The sun rises on a desperate awareness of a new, dire, and unpredictable crisis.
Panic spreads across Ukraine as the sounds of death echo across its cities and countryside. We must think first and foremost of those facing the brunt of the invasion, especially the civilians who will inevitably be caught in the crossfire of conflict. We can picture the parents desperately trying to soothe the fears of their children…

BitConnect Founder Indicted in Global $2.4 Billion Cryptocurrency Scheme | OPA | Department of Justice
According to court documents, Satish Kumbhani, 36, of Hemal, India, the founder of BitConnect, misled investors about BitConnect’s “Lending Program.” Under this program, Kumbhani and his co-conspirators touted BitConnect’s purported proprietary technology, known as the “BitConnect Trading Bot” and “Volatility Software,” as being able to generate substantial profits and guaranteed returns by using investors’ money to trade on the volatility of cryptocurrency exchange markets. As alleged in the indictment, however, BitConnect operated as a Ponzi scheme by paying earlier BitConnect investors with money from later investors. In total, Kumbhani and his co-conspirators obtained approximately $2.4 billion from investors. Let’s save the wildlife- (The giraffe – Giraffa camelopardalis)
Sjeverne žirafe žive u savanama, grmovima i šumama. Obično žive u zaštićenim područjima i van njih.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland Statement on President Biden’s Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court | OPA | Department of Justice
“President Biden has made an outstanding choice in selecting Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. I have known Judge Jackson since she served as a federal public defender. I also had the privilege to serve alongside Judge Jackson during her eight years as a district judge before she joined the D.C. Circuit. I have witnessed firsthand her exceptional abilities as both a lawyer and a judge, her commitment to the rule of law and equal justice under law, and her generosity of spirit. I commend President Biden for nominating Judge Jackson. I am confident that she will be an exemplary member of our nation’s highest court.” Source: Attorney General Merrick B. Supreme Court Nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson | The White House
Judge Jackson stood out as a high achiever throughout her childhood. She was a speech and debate star who was elected “mayor” of Palmetto Junior High and student body president of Miami Palmetto Senior High School. But like many Black women, Judge Jackson still faced naysayers. When Judge Jackson told her high school guidance counselor she wanted to attend Harvard, the guidance counselor warned that Judge Jackson should not set her “sights so high.”
That did not stop Judge Jackson. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, then attended Harvard Law School, where she graduated cum laude and was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
