This week’s Torah portion is Parashat Vayakhel / וַיַּקְהֵל
Parashat Vayakhel is the 23rd sedra (portion) in the annual cycle, and the 10th (second to last) in the book of Sh’mot/Exodus. But normally, this parashah is doubled up and read together with Parashat P’kudei. Since this year is a Leap Year on the Hebrew calendar, it’s one of the rare-ish years when these two parshiot are read separately. So, the Trienniel cycle folks should be reading most or all of this parashah this year, I imagine, but have not checked.
This week, resting, and giving back to community are the main themes. So, yes, rest is important, not just individually, but together, with others in mind, and even with others.
