Republican vilifying high school over drag show was part of a high school drag show / LGBTQ Nation

After his despicable campaign ad, journalists quickly started looking into James’ own schooling. His high school yearbook is available online.

The photo shows James dressed as a cowboy and participating in a skit. Half of the team is in drag; the other half are cowboys.

But James, who has railed about “transgenderism” and accused administrators of trying to “indoctrinate” and groom children, sees a difference between dressing in drag when the student is LGBTQ and dressing in drag when the student is a football player.

Good People Doing Good Things — Feeding People

Filosofa's Word

All three of this week’s ‘good people’ have earned thumbs-up for doing something to help feed people.  Let’s take a look …

Meet Doramise Moreau, a woman with a heart of gold.  Doramise is a widow, 60 years of age, who works part-time as a janitor at a technical school in Miami, Florida.  She usually walks to work or takes the bus because she does not own a car.  Doramise doesn’t have much in the way of money, but she still gives more to her community than most people.  What does she do?  She cooks.  Correction … she cooks over a thousand meals every week to feed the hungry in her community.

doramise-moreauEvery Thursday and Friday, Moreau borrows her church’s truck to buy groceries. Notre Dame d’Haiti Catholic Church pays for the food, relying on donations. Moreau then prepares the meals singlehandedly, while church volunteers serve or deliver them to…

Good People Doing Good Things — Teresa Gray et al

Filosofa's Word

I think everyone in the world is familiar with Médecins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders, a wonderful humanitarian group of doctors and other medical professionals that is best known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.  But last night, I came across another group, Mobile Medics International founded by Teresa Gray.  Mobile Medics International sends volunteer medical professionals to disaster areas and humanitarian crisis around the world, and the current crisis in Ukraine is what brought the organization to fame and Teresa Gray to the attention of CNN where she became the latest CNN Hero.

Ms. Gray and the group are based in Anchorage, Alaska, just a 4,500-mile hop, skip, and a jump from Ukraine, but that didn’t stop them.  When they deploy, it’s normally within 72 hours of a disaster to fill the gap before larger groups are fully operational. Their…

DOJ appeals ruling on public transportation mask mandates – UPI.com

The U.S. Department of Justice on Wednesday appealed a federal judge’s ruling that struck down face mask mandates for passengers on public transportation, including buses and airplanes.

The department filed the appeal in a Florida district court following a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which states that masking on transportation “remains necessary for the public health.”
