Donald Trump endorses incumbent congressman opposed by Republican Jews – The Jerusalem Post

The RJC also backed Massie’s primary opponent in 2020 because the congressman was all that stood between the government and a $2 trillion coronavirus pandemic stimulus package. It went through eventually, but Trump, who was president at the time, then called Massie a “third-rate grandstander.”

The RJC already had its sights set on Massie: He had opposed funding for Holocaust education and a resolution that condemned Israel boycotters. More recently, he was the only Republican who opposed $1 billion in additional funding to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile system after it was depleted in the Gaza conflict a year ago. Massie is a libertarian and cites his opposition to government overreach in all of these votes.

Roe v Wade is the 1973 landmark United States Supreme Court decision that ensures all women have the right to obtain legal and safe abortions. Tragically, it’s on the verge of becoming history.

When I first published “My Abortion Story,” Roe v Wade was already under siege. Mobilized right wing groups do whatever they can, sometimes violently, to make it hard for doctors to work and clinics to exist. They murder physicians, set up…

(1) U.S. schools bring back mask mandates amid rising COVID-19 cases – National | Globalnews.ca

U.S. COVID-19 cases are up, leading a smattering of school districts, particularly in the Northeast, to bring back mask mandates and recommendations for the first time since the Omicron winter surge ended and as the country approaches 1 million deaths in the pandemic.

The return of masking in schools is not nearly as widespread as earlier in the pandemic, particularly as the public’s worries over the virus have ebbed. But districts in Maine, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have brought masks back, with a few in Massachusetts also recommending them even as the school year enters its final weeks.

More than a million Ukrainians reported to have been deported to Russia

Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Liudmyla Denisova reported on 9 May that almost 1.2 million Ukrainians have been taken to the Russian Federation, with this figure including 200 thousand children.  While the Russians claim that they are ‘evacuating’ people, many are believed to have been taken against their will or through deceit, and often transported to the most inhospitable parts of the Russian Federation.

In her press briefing, Denisova spoke of the methods of so-called ‘filtration’ used by the Russian invading forces.  As reported earlier, these include forcing people to take off their clothes to check tattoos for ‘suspicious’ pro-Ukrainian content and scrutinizing contacts and content of mobile telephones.  All are automatically asked about their opinion of the so-called ‘special military operation’, as Russia describes its total invasion of Ukraine.

Those who ‘fail’ such filtration, being considered ‘suspect’ by the Russia’s FSB [security service] for their pro-Ukrainian views, contacts, etc., are sent to Donetsk or Dokuchaevsk on the territory of the Russian proxy ‘Donetsk people’s republic’ [DPR].  While Denisova says that no exact figures are known, she does speak of some 20 thousand people held in various camps.
