Obliging Eyes

Kaushal Kishore

👀👀👀👀👀👀

Wherever the injury occurs,
tears start flowing
from the obliging eyes,
If the eyes
start revolting
then the storm is sure to come…

♫ You Can Call Me Al ♫

Filosofa's Word

If you asked me yesterday about a song titled “You Can Call Me Al”, I would have looked at you as if you had two heads, would have scratched my own head, and said, “Huh?”  I’ve heard the song many a time, but if I ever knew its title, I’ve long since forgotten!  Tonight, it’s late (2:30 a.m.) and I’m tired after a nearly sleepless night last night, so when Paul Simon popped into my head (I swear I need to remember to close that door!) I went in search of his best songs.  Of course, ‘best’ is relative and a matter of personal preference.  Anyway … a bit of background from the folks over at SongFacts …

  • Simon started recorded this song in South Africa, where he worked with local musicians and experimented with their sounds. He recorded with many different musicians while he was there, and he loved…

Why Does It Have To Be This Way?

Filosofa's Word

We in this nation, around the globe in fact, are so divided that families have crumbled, friendships dissolved like a candy in hot water, marriages and even parent-child relationships gone in a blink of any eye.  Is this really who we are, or are we being led toward one side or another by those whose self-interest far outweighs their concern for us.

While yes, I know there are ideological differences between people based on their ‘order of values’, but beyond those relatively minor details, it seems that it should all be so simple.  For example … I cannot imagine a single human on this planet who wouldn’t grieve for the 19 children murdered in Texas last month, who wouldn’t do anything in their power to stop such a thing from ever occurring again.  And yet … we are so divided on who can own what types of guns and how…

Contigo caí y me levanté.

On Lesson Day 15, Saved By Libraries?

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This is GED/HiSET lesson plan Day 15 of 67, and a reminder of how libraries have historically been places of learning both intellectually and socially.  The Carnegie library, which was the DC Central library for many years, was, for instance, one of the few non-segregated places in the city where all could learn together in safety.

I am working on Draft 6 of my nonfiction offering to communities in our country of one long term proposal, and then hope to get back to my historical fiction stories, for which I appreciate the appreciation many of you sent me when I was writing Ann and Anna.  The work is hard, and the hands are few.  I hope that more will volunteer to serve, even before Phase II.

I look forward to hearing your ideas, Thoughtful Readers.

We can really  Do Better.

Feliz Dia dos Que Sabem Amar

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Just Simple Pleasures for Today

From Behind the Pen

All too often, we get caught up in the fancy-schmancy way of it all that only pushes us to ask, “Why is everything so hard?” Adults can make things complicated, seem out of touch, or just plain ole preposterous. Then, there is the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) response when asking how to do a certain procedure if you overthink things.

For today, keep things simple, whether you’re cooking, cleaning, or working. Make it simple as you gain a sense of clarity that makes you wonder why you haven’t seen things, situations or people clearly before now. You’ll be amazed by how much you notice, appreciate, and marvel. Take it easy and enjoy the simple pleasures of life with gratitude.
