“Quando olhares para frente buscando enxergar o teu futuro, ou alguma referência do que esse possa ser, espero que a sua visão não seja embaçada. Mas que os bons ventos te traga o perfume dos doces licores. Seria triste vê-lo degustar da azeda amargura de um solo que não cultivaste como deveria. “

After Paxlovid treatment, COVID-19 symptoms rarely rebound, study says – UPI.com

Despite worries that COVID-19 symptoms can return after patients take the drug Paxlovid, cases of rebound symptoms are actually rare, a new study shows.

In an advisory last month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cautioned that COVID-19 can sometimes make a comeback after an infected person has gone through a round of the antiviral pills.

In these cases of “COVID-19 rebound,” the illness improved or resolved within an average of three days, without additional treatment, the CDC advised in May.

Filosofa's Word

Okay, so I was looking into a song for this morning’s music post that had been mentioned by a dear friend, and as I wanted to bring a much-needed smile to his face, I was planning to surprise him with a song.  And then … and then … this one popped into my head and … well, if you’ve followed this blog for a few years, you know that Stevie Wonder is DA MAN in my book, and as I listened … a funny thing happened.  My face felt funny … what was wrong???  WHOA … could it be … was it possible … yes … YES … the corners of my mouth were slightly upturned … I was … SMILING!  And so, I will post my friend’s song tomorrow night, but for tonight, sit back and enjoy yourself a bit of Stevie at his best!

Turkish Tuesday: Babamın Kemanı (My Father’s Violin)

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

What do we not learn from this beautiful film?  babasi

Lessons:
1.)  Things are not always as they seem, even when it looks like your big brother has abandoned you.
2.)  Even when the struggle seems hopeless, imagine how that kid has survived, and keep going.
This film starts off with a father, clearly suffering from TB, caring for his young daughter Özlem, and teaching her, through music, about life and the people in the world.  Sadly, she doesn’t get much time to learn with him, as the TB finished him off.  Fortunately, she did learn enough to show her bombastic uncle that she is also a violin virtuoso, once he learns to listen.  Along the way, we learn how he turned to this bombastic defense mechanism, and how some family history, passed by his niece to him from his defunct brother, changes his views.  Also, we see…

Proud Boy Ryan Ashlock Pleads Guilty to Jan. 6 Misdemeanor

Ryan Ashlock, 23, appeared before U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly on Tuesday and admitted that he had gone where he wasn’t supposed to be that day. He pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering and remaining on restricted grounds, a misdemeanor.

While the charge carries a potential one year jail sentence and $100,000 fine, the plea agreement estimates that Ashlock will likely face a maximum of six months in jail and a potential fine of up to $9,500.

The plea agreement also includes a cooperation clause, although it’s not clear to what extent Ashlock is expected to assist the federal government’s ever-expanding investigation into the events of that day, when thousands of Donald Trump supporters descended on the Capitol, pushed past police, and ultimately forced Congress to temporarily stop certifying the results of Joe Biden‘s 2020 electoral win.

The plea agreement contemplates only that Ashlock will let law enforcement look at his social media accounts for postings in and around Jan. 6, and will submit to an interview with investigators “regarding the events in and around” Jan. 6 ahead of sentencing.

According to the Statement of Offense, which outlines the facts that form the basis of the charge to which he is pleading guilty, Ashlock and some of his co-defendants—including Christopher Kuehne and Louis Enrique Colon—shared their plans for Jan. 6 via text messages. They spoke of bring radios, medical supplies, and weapons to Washington D.C. in support of Trump.
