Excellence in what we do

Raffaello Palandri's Blog

We can achieve excellence in what we do, want, or need by committing to a conscious, effective, long-lasting effort to plan, check, improve and repeat our actions.

Reconhecimento do Universo

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Cause and Effect

Perpetrators of crimes against humanity or our environment aren’t the ones to blame. It’s what sells, and we as consumers are addicted to instant gratification. We have to take our focus away from individuality to pursuing a course of self healing, the healing of every sentient being and our source of sustenance, Mother Earth.

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

New research leveraging DNA has identified the origins of the Black Death or Plague that killed half or more of all humans in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa in the mid to late 1300s.(1)

The Plague was introduced to the Mediterranean region in 1347 from ships from Eastern trading centers. Researchers identified tombstones from 1337 and 1337 in Kyrgyzstan whose inscriptions mentioned a mysterious illness. DNA examination of the remains of the dead found traces of the bacteria, Yersinia pestis, which is the bacteria responsible for the plague.

The Plague is very much still around. This bacteria is carried by rodents and transmitted to humans when bitten. Because it’s a bacteria and not a virus, there are medications readily available now for treatment. However, if ignored, the bacteria can still cause critical illness and death. For that reason, it has found its way into chemical warfare arsenals.(3,4)

Shall We Stop Educating Our Children?

Filosofa's Word

Betsy DeVos served under the former administration as Secretary of Education. Ms. DeVos brought no qualifications in the field of education to the position – her only qualification was the huge sum of money (reported to be in the multi-million dollar range) she and her husband, Dick, had donated to the former guy’s campaign in 2016. Ms. DeVos was no more qualified than I for the position, and did an even worse job than I would have, but that is all water under the bridge, for she and her corrupt boss have left the federal government … or have they?

It seems these days that anybody and everybody who served in the former administration feels qualified to write a book, and they believe that we will pay money to read their first-hand experience, or drivel, which is what most of these books are. There are a few exceptions, such as

♫ Dust In The Wind ♫ (Redux)

Filosofa's Word

This has been a day of … perception and pondering for me.  I admit it … I am depressed in a way I’ve never been before and it is taking its toll on my psyche.  This song popped into my head a day or so ago, and when I looked at it tonight, one part in the lyrics stood out for me …

… nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won’t another minute buy

I think there are a lot of people in this world who need to hear and ponder those words.  Anyway, I’ve only played this once in my ‘blogging career’ and that was three years ago, so … not too soon for a redux, is it?

Given the current status of our world, our environment, the health of our planet, this song kept popping in and out of…

Two Lessons On Empathy from La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) p2e4, ep. 17:

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

My reaction this week tries not to spoil the episode, so I give random reactions in the original Spanish, and nonspoilers in English, for the majority of my current readers:

cap 17, p2:e4

1.)  Empathy has to include everybody,

and

2.)  Never trust a person who clearly lacks empathy or compassion for others.
