Jayland Walker – Say His Name

Filosofa's Word

Jayland Walker is dead.  More than 60 rounds were shot into his 25-year-old body by police after he exited his car, possibly having fired a gun, fleeing a traffic stop.  Need I tell you that Jayland Walker was Black?

It happened in Akron, Ohio, where police fired more than 90 rounds at Mr. Walker, with over 60 penetrating his body.  Imagine if he had been white … police would have given chase on foot, put out an APB (All Points Bulletin), impounded the car, and never fired a single round, or they would have fired over his head simply as a warning.

The eight officers who collectively shot at and killed Jayland Walker have been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.  Rather like a vacation with pay … as a reward for abusing their position to murder yet another Black man.

A lone young man…

China urges Myanmar junta to hold talks with opponents | The Straits Times

China’s foreign minister called for Myanmar’s junta to hold talks with its opponents on Sunday (July 3) during his first visit to the country since the 2021 coup that plunged it into turmoil.

Beijing is one of the Myanmar military’s few international allies, supplying arms and refusing to label the power grab that ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s government a coup.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China expects all parties in Myanmar to “adhere to rational consultation” and “strive to achieve political reconciliation”.

Monkeypox vaccines will be offered to some residents | News | avpress.com

Los Angeles County health officials said, Friday, are aligning with federal guidelines on distribution of monkeypox vaccines, offering the shots to people who have had confirmed contact with an existing case or who attended an event where there was a high risk of exposure.

Doses of the JYNNEOS vaccine are limited in supply, and only people who are specifically contacted by the county Department of Public Health will be eligible to receive it.

According to the county, nearly 800 doses have already been administered locally.

“As vaccine supply increases, Public Health will align with the federal strategy of administering the monkeypox vaccine to others in high-risk groups,” according to the county.

U.S. Orders 2.5 Million More Monkeypox Vaccine Doses

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday that it has ordered an additional 2.5 million doses of Bavarian Nordic’s JYNNEOS, an FDA-licensed vaccine indicated for prevention of smallpox and monkeypox, for use in responding to current or future monkeypox outbreaks and as part of U.S. smallpox preparedness.

Deliveries from this latest order of the Bavarian Nordic‘s Jynneos vaccine will begin arriving at the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) later this year and will continue through early 2023 HHS said in a statement.

“We are working around-the-clock with public health officials in states and large metro areas to provide them with vaccines and treatments to respond to the current monkeypox outbreak,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “This order of additional JYNNEOS vaccine will help us push out more vaccine quickly, knowing that we have more doses on the way in the coming months — and is only possible because of our longstanding investment in smallpox and monkeypox preparedness.”

Já não quero falar mais
Como eu gosto de escrever
Pois sei que agora deve ser um segredo.

Talvez seja desejo
Talvez seja medo.
Talvez seja tempo
Talvez seja um tempero

Pode incomodar
Pode apimentar
Pode até azedar
O paladar
Em que alguém não sabe
Me aturar
Me interpretar
Me avaliar.

Que problema seja meu
E não seu.
Que seja apenas harmonioso
Cauteloso
Silencioso
Saboroso

De se ler, de se ouvir
De saber rir
De doces palavras
De doces histórias
De lindos contos
De tantas vezes
Onde eu fui errante
Ouvinte
E negociante

Do breve espaço do que vejo
Do que percebo
Do que escrevo

Que as palavras
Sigam a sina
Sigam a rima
Sigam apenas
A sua sintonia
Na minha humilde
Vidinha.
