New Page on Grandma Marie and Grandpa Johnson

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

If you’ve noticed a new page on the menu, it is because I have just created one to explain my background image, since I keep losing the post where I explained it, and also since I got a message over Ancestry from a professor at Howard University about my Grandpa Johnson being a war hero (pls see the page linked just above)!  I mention him and my great Grandma Marie often, so it seems fair to have a page about them.  May their memories always be for a blessing,

In his first address as acting president, Mr. Wickremesinghe declared a curfew and referred to some protesters as a “fascist threat.”

It is celebrated every year on the full moon day of Ashadhaआसाढ़ month, and this year the celebration will happen on July 13th.

Ashadha is a month of the Hindu calendar, and it corresponds to June/July in the Gregorian calendar. It is the first of the two months of the monsoon season.

The celebration of Guru Purnima is marked by several spiritual activities which may also include ritualistic events in honor of the Guru (the so-called Guru Puja).

The word Guru -गुरु comes from Sanskrit (the earliest pieces of evidence of the term are found in the earliest Vedic texts).
