Emotional Maturity

Peddling insults is inexcusable for a grown person. If we feel slighted we should address it. No one is responsible for our happiness, we are. Life is too short for us to digress into micro aggressions.

Singapore’s foreign ministry confirmed Rajapaksa had been allowed to enter the city-state but insisted it was for a “private visit”.

“He has not asked for asylum and neither has he been granted any asylum. Singapore generally does not grant requests for asylum,” it said in a statement.

A handful of Sri Lankans were waiting in one of the airport’s arrival areas to voice their anger at Rajapaksa and the economic crisis engulfing their homeland.

131,000 new vaccine doses available to states

In total, the federal government has distributed 160,000 vaccine doses to states. Walensky emphasized throughout the press conference the distribution of vaccine will be equitable and given to places currently seeing the highest number of cases.

Today HHS also said an addition 131,000 doses will be made available to order from states for delivery starting next week.

Until then, Walensky said MSM should be made aware of transmission dynamics by clinicians. Close skin-to-skin contact, fact-to-face contact via kissing, and sharing contaminated objects are all likely the main ways the virus is spreading, she said.

She also noted that testing currently requires the presence of lesions on a person, because those lesions must be swabbed to look for the virus.

The United States currently has 1,470 cases from 44 jurisdictions, an increase of 417 from yesterday.

In related news, Food and Drug Administration inspectors have completed their inspection of a Bavarian Nordic plant in Denmark, which paves the way for the US to receive thousands more doses of the Jynneos vaccine.

Cross-border shoppers beware: Canada bans raw chicken, eggs produced in states including Michigan | CBC News

Cross-border grocery shoppers might get a surprise on the way back — raw poultry and egg products produced in Michigan and 20 other states can’t be brought into the country due to the threat of avian influenza.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says that all poultry products and byproducts that are not fully cooked and canned or hermetically sealed that were sourced, processed or packaged in certain U.S. states are not allowed to enter the country.

“These measures are being taken to prevent the introduction of avian influenza into Canada,” the CFIA stated in a notice posted online earlier this month.

“Made in Chile” Electric Buses, Another Stride Towards Electromobility | Inter Press Service

The manufacture in Chile of an electric bus christened Queltehue, a wading bird native to the country, is another step towards electromobility and in the fight against pollution that triggers frequent environmental crises and smog emergencies in Santiago and other cities.

The National Electromobility Strategy, updated and relaunched in 2021, aims for 100 percent of the public transport vehicle fleet and 40 percent of private cars to be electric by 2050. By 2035, internal combustion engine cars will no longer be sold in this country.

That means that in less than 30 years some five million vehicles will switch from fuel to electricity, avoiding the emission of some 11 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year and reducing spending on oil and petroleum products by more than 3.3 billion dollars a year.
