♫ Something ♫ | Filosofa’s Word

Back in 2020, I played this song as part of a Beatles’ Week that I did at David’s suggestion.  Tonight it is not part of a week-long thing, but just one that I felt like playing for no particular reason!  George Harrison, sometimes referred to as the “quiet Beatle”, was greatly underappreciated, I think.  Most…

More Flexibility for Women, Please, on Day 21/67

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

No thoughts on  Day 21 of my 67 night-school class set of lesson plans for GED/HiSet learners.
A local non-profit helps incubate local businesses for women, like this set of businesses, which formed a cooperative to share a store space while setting up their businesses and learning how to keep their books, etc at the Women Empowered coop a few years ago.  They also mentioned that sometimes working together also required a good deal of empathy to keep relations smooth between them, while running different businesses out of the same small space.
Keep working on building new neural pathways by learning languages, or music, or something to help build empathy, as these ladies did in San Diego, please.
    Sorry, I am so tired.
Shira

Masking recommended again as COVID-19 rises anew in Wisconsin – Wisconsin Examiner

Sixteen counties in the state, including the three most populous, have a “high community level” of COVID-19 under standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC guidelines recommend that in counties with a high community level, everyone should wear a mask indoors when they aren’t at home, regardless of whether they’ve had the COVID-19 vaccine or boosters.

The CDC updates its county-by-county community level ratings for COVID-19 every Thursday. The new list of counties with a high community level includes Milwaukee, Dane and Brown counties; the rest are Barron, Columbia, Door, Eau Claire, Grant, Green, Iowa, Kenosha, Portage, Richland, Rock, Rusk and Sawyer counties. Together they are home to  2.57 million people — 43% of Wisconsin’s total population.

It’s just a reminder that COVID hasn’t gone away. It’s getting worse, and whatever we’re doing now isn’t working.

– Ajay Sethi, University of Wisconsin epidemiologist

“When we get that high community level CDC indicator, that’s when community-wide masking is really necessary,” said Ajay Sethi, a University of Wisconsin epidemiologist. Even at lower community levels of COVID-19,  “people who are especially vulnerable to severe disease should always be wearing their mask indoors,” he added.

Cursed cruise ship where 120 passengers tested positive for COVID-19, now is facing 20-foot waves and brutal wind, stranding it off Australia

  • A Coral Princess cruise ship with more than 2,000 passengers onboard is stranded at sea.
  • Strong winds and 20-foot waves are preventing the ship from safely docking in Australia, per reports.
  • This isn’t the ship’s only challenge in recent days. Last week, it reported 120 cases of COVID-19 onboard.

Passengers on the Coral Princess cruise ship, now stuck off Australia’s coast, can’t seem to catch a break.

Last week, the ship reported 120 cases of COVID-19. Now, its 2,000-plus passengers are stranded at sea.

Strong winds and 20-foot waves are preventing the vessel from safely docking, according to news reports from The Daily Mail and Sky News Australia. The ship was supposed to dock in Brisbane at 7am local time Friday, the last day of its weeklong voyage, with stops along the Queensland and New South Wales coasts, but bad weather has made that impossible.
