चलो किसी की हंसी नहीं उड़ाते
लेकिन हम हंसे सबके साथ,
चलो किसी को हराते नहीं
पर सबको जीतने की कोशिश करते हैं…

Tip Your Cap

just drive, will you?

Baseball lost a great one Tuesday. Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, the voice of the Dodgers for an incredible 67 years, passed away at the age of 94. In his memory, I’m repeating a post from 2016, when Vin retired. So long, Mr. Scully, you were the best. Larry

The end of an era is upon us, sports fans.

Vin Scully, legendary baseball announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is retiring this season, after an astonishing 67 years in broadcasting.

Sixty…seven…years. Let that sink in for awhile.

Nobody has ever done his job so well, for so long. Nobody even close.

It makes me envious of Dodger fans. He’s more than just their announcer. He’s more than just their buddy, inviting them to sit back and enjoy a ball game with him.

He’s their dad, the one with all the memories of former Dodger heroes like…

Presa Ingênua

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Quiche From the Hen House

snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Enjoyable Eats: Quiche From the Hen House! Certain foods are like time-travel. Take quiche, for instance. Elsewhere it’s no big deal, popular even. But in America, guys couldn’t stand it back in the ‘80s. Too sissy. Never mind that it was economical and the ingredients were pretty much on hand when the grocery budget was stretched to the max. But then came bacon, and everything changed. Suddenly quiche was raised to the level of deep dish pizza.

QUICHE FROM THE HEN HOUSE

1 prepared pie crust

1 broccoli crown, cut into bite-size pieces

1/3 sweet onion, chopped

1 cup light cream

At heated meeting, San Antonio City Council approves resolution to protect abortion access | San Antonio News | San Antonio | San Antonio Current

San Antonio City Council voted 9-2 Tuesday to approve a largely symbolic resolution recommending that city funds not be used to pay for investigations intended to enforce state anti-abortion laws.

The late-afternoon vote capped hours of heated debate that packed council chambers.

The adopted resolution doesn’t legalize or decriminalize abortion in San Antonio. However, it does offer guidance that city funds shouldn’t be used to collect or share information on abortions to be passed on to other government entities pursuing criminal investigations. Even so, the measure includes an exception for instances in which local officials are “clearly required” to do so by state and federal law.

Good People Doing Good Things – Dr. Sanduk Ruit & Dr. Geoffrey Tabin

Filosofa's Word

I find I must dig back through the archives and repeat my good people post from April 2017 this week, for I am simply too frustrated tonight to settle into writing a new one.  My apologies, but I really think you’ll enjoy reading about these two guys!

Every Wednesday morning, I write about good people who are giving of themselves, their time, their money, or whatever resources they have to help others.  Some weeks I write about millionaire philanthropists, or foundations, other weeks, average, everyday people like you and me who are doing small things that make big differences in the lives of others.  Today I would like to introduce you to a pair of doctors, Dr. Sanduk Ruit, a Nepalese eye surgeon, and Dr. Geoffrey Tabin, an American eye surgeon and world-renowned mountain climber.

Together, these two eye surgeons have restored sight to more than 150,000 patients in 24…
