Violência Doméstica

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Ciclo Abusivo

What in the Funk is Going On?

103rd Street Band does it for me – https://youtu.be/F-MQQPlUPEE

From Behind the Pen

Do you ever run into those days when you feel like you’re trapped in a funk? You know what I mean, being in that mood of feeling sad and down, not really knowing why? Sometimes you may not understand but you just know that you’re there, in that place that seems to have you strapped down, so you cannot escape.

To be in a funk means feeling sad, down, and not knowing why. I occasionally enter that place when I feel I landed in a funk and am clueless about how I got there and why. I have a tendency to expect to be productive almost every day, and sometimes productivity may mean doing absolutely nothing at all. Yet this does not register in me because when productivity doesn’t happen, I feel out of sorts like I failed to get something important done in a timely…

Donate excess solar to low income families

Darcy Hitchcock

If you put solar panels on your home, it’s likely that you’re producing more than you need, sending some power back to the electrical grid. Utilities give those homeowners a credit at the end of the year (typically based on the cheap wholesale rate.)

What if you could donate some of your excess solar production to low income families in your community? It’s happening in Massachusetts.

Resonant Energy, a Boston-based solar energy provider, has developed a novel approach for sharing the benefits of solar energy. Working with software developer MySunBuddy, the certified B Corporation has launched a platform that enables customers in Massachusetts who oversize their arrays — that is, who install more solar panels on their roofs than they need to meet their own energy needs — to donate the extra energy savings to low-income families.

This program addresses several equity and efficiency issues with solar now.

  • Most solar…

Philadelphia: Judge Overturns Mayor’s Ban on Guns in Playgrounds and Rec Centers

Gun insanity will rule until collectively we say no more and change state and national laws on guns that make the world safer for everyone.

Diane Ravitch's blog

After the murder of a recreation worker at a city center, Mayor Jim Kenney issued an executive order banning guns at playgrounds and recreation centers. A local judge overturned Mayor Kennedy’s order, because it violates state law.

This is madness. People will die. Are guns in schools okay too?

A Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge on Monday blocked the city from enforcing an executive order Mayor Jim Kenney signed last week banning guns at recreation centers and playgrounds following the fatal shooting of a Parks and Recreation employee last month.

The Gun Owners of America, on behalf of several state residents, filed a lawsuit last Tuesday, the day Kenney signed his order. After hearing arguments Friday, Judge Joshua H. Roberts issued his ruling siding with the plaintiffs and ordering Philadelphia to be “permanently enjoined” from enforcing Kenney’s ban.

The lawsuit cited Pennsylvania state law that prohibits any city or county…

♫ People Got To Be Free ♫

Filosofa's Word

As I was writing my earlier post about people being people wherever they are, this song started playing in my head.  I could only recall a snippet of the lyrics, but once again Google came to my rescue and led me right to the song.  I think this is a good day to play this one, don’t you?  As an added bonus, it’s one I haven’t played here before!

This song has a message that resonated loud and clear in 1968:

All the world over, so easy to see

People everywhere just wanna be free

Freedom lost a champion on April 4, 1968 when Martin Luther King, Jr. was gunned down, and when Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 5, it was dealt another devastating blow.

Eddie Brigati and Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals wrote this song in reaction to those murders, condensing King and Kennedy’s message into a…
