Filosofa's Word

Okay friends … it’s official!  I, Jill Dennison, aka Filosofa, have lost my bloody mind!!!  A few nights ago after I played a song by the group Badfinger, our friend Clive mentioned two other songs by them, “Day After Day”, and this one, “Come And Get It”.  I told him I didn’t know if I had ever heard “Day After Day”, but that I did somewhat remember “Come And Get It”.  So, I went in search of both, found that I knew them both well from way back when, and decided to play first one, then the other here on Filosofa’s Word.  Well guess what?  That song I said I didn’t think I had heard before is one that I played here less than two years ago, in February 2021.  And this one … “Come And Get It”?  I played this one in July 2020!  I do not remember playing…

Writing Process Wednesdays, and A Well Planned Scene

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

(he hates being called that) and Martin/Meir, once I had a better idea of their relationship.  A bit like the Mentor in the Hero’s Journey, but not quite.  Updating this scene card several times made it a mess, but helped, when drafting the preliminary scene.

Long COVID

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

This is truly the disease that keeps giving.

We have a new research study involving scientists across the US — Yale, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Texas, University of California at San Francisco, University of Washington, Rush Medical Center (Chicago) and the CDC.(1)

I’m not going into details on the study, but the key findings are:

  1. Half of persons testing positive for COVID-19 had some of the symptoms three months after the initial diagnosis. (n = 772)
  2. One-quarter of people with symptoms who tested negative for COVID-19 continued to have symptoms three months after the negative test. (n = 278)

Separately, autopsies of 44 people who died after testing positive for the coronavirus showed that the virus had spread throughout the body, including the brain, and was present up to 8 months after testing positive.(2)

The lasting nature of this virus shouldn’t come as a surprise. We already know that…
