European Greens ask Jill Stein to stand down and endorse Kamala Harris | US elections 2004 | The Guardian

A coalition of European Greens have urged the US Green party’s nominee, Jill Stein, to pull out of next week’s election and endorse Kamala Harris to stop Donald Trump from becoming president.

Green parties in 16 European countries from Portugal to Ukraine distanced themselves from their US counterparts in a statement on Friday, and called for Stein to withdraw from the race.

“We are clear that Kamala Harris is the only candidate who can block Donald Trump and his anti-democratic, authoritarian policies from the White House,” they wrote.

The signatories include Green parties from several countries in which they govern as part of coalitions, such as Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Spain. The parties said there was “no link” between the Greens in Europe and the US.

A pregnant Texas teenager died after three separate visits to an emergency room in attempts to get care in another incident that has highlighted the medical impact of the loss of abortion rights in the US.

Nevaeh Crain, 18, had gone to two different emergency rooms within 12 hours in October of 2023, each time returning home feeling worse than before. Crain was only diagnosed with strep throat upon her first visit. The hospital did not investigate her sharp abdominal cramps, according to reporting by ProPublica.

Crain is one of at least two Texas women who died under the state’s abortion ban brought in after the US supreme court overturned the federal right to abortion. Josseli Barnica, 28, died after a miscarriage in 2021.

Vive.

My Grave | Dawn Pisturino’s Blog

My Grave

This poem, written for All Soul’s Day (Day of the Dead), was originally published in the November 2011 issue of Underneath the Juniper Tree. Enjoy!

My Grave

by Dawn Pisturino

I think that I shall never crave

A home as lovely as a grave.

A restful place deep in the ground

Without a trace of light or sound.

A grassy mound high on a hill,

Host to yellow daffodil.

And when the snow begins to fall,

I will not be disturbed at all.

A pleasant park is all I need

And visitors who stop to read

The granite marker at my head:

“Rest in Peace to All the Dead!”

~

“My Grave” is included in my legacy poetry collection, Ariel’s Song: Published Poems, 1987-2023, available in e-book and paperback on Amazon.

Have a peaceful and blessed day!
