Alles ist eine Liebe … All is one love

Stella, oh, Stella

Juliana von Norwich,Revelations of Divine Love(Offenbarungen göttlicher Liebe)

… I saw that the motherhood of God can be looked at in three ways. The first is his creation of our human nature; the second his assumption of nature – from which stems the motherhood of grace; and the third is the practical outworking of motherhood, as a result of which, and by the same grace, it spreads out…

Poem – Winning a War With Time

NANMYKEL.COM

NAN

87

And time’s short

She might not remember

Today, tomorrow, or a minute from now

Something important for the next generation

A central tremor waves the lines of each written letter

But she’ll never surrender

Just hold down the fort

condo 1004A

Stockpile the ammo!

Half a dozen pens and pencils

Between the bed sheets

Notebooks and tissues

Magazines and books afloat the waves of the unmade bed

A trail of trailmix down the hallway

fiery passion

And a zest

Words of wisdom are held captive on the page

Waiting to be released

As each one of them is read

And that’s how you win a war with time

While sitting in bed.

Shared with permission of Nan’s friend Carrie Carson

Indirect Dialogue?

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Ok, experienced fiction authors, I need your help, please.  I just found a random note in my research notebook from back in 2013, about a challenge that I must have seen somewhere, and found interesting, but needed more time to meditate on it, and then forgot:  start with the antagonist asking the protagonist, via indirect dialogue, an emotional question while acting on the setting, leading to a surprising reply via some different part of piece of the setting.  Tell me, readers, can anyone even think of an example of where this has happened or been written?  Something like a magical world in which the setting is able to react to characters’ thoughts or emotions immediately comes to mind, but no examples of such actually spring to my memory.  And also, what, exactly, is indirect dialogue?  It must be some form of not summary narrative, but of some…

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Children and birds – a happy combination in Jamaica’s Hope Botanical Gardens

Petchary's Blog

One small girl found the binoculars weighed her down too much, so her father took them over.

Another girl (pre-teen age) was convinced that there were woodpeckers in the clump of bamboo; in fact, bamboo often makes all kinds of knocking and rattling noises when the wind blows. But we did see a real endemic Jamaican Woodpecker, with his blazing red head, a little later.

Several Common Moorhens tripped as fast as they could along the pond side to avoid the children’s cries – but were duly admired, anyway.

Two boys, guided by their father (a brilliant BirdLife photographer), were busy counting Greater Antillean Grackles, who were making their usual racket in a bush.

BirdLife Jamaica’s concept of staging a children’s birding session in Kingston’s beloved Hope Gardens was an absolute winner, straight out of the starting block (since it was the first attempt, or perhaps we could call it…
