I’M NOT AN ALCOHOLIC BUT…. | NANMYKEL.COM

….I can use something like AA’s Serenity Prayer:  ” Grant to us the serenity of mind to accept that which cannot be changed; courage to change that which can be changed, and wisdom to know the one from the other.”

I had to erase the mythical additional words to make the prayer feel real for me.  Prayer?   From whom to whom?

I remind myself of a poem I wrote in Time Wrinkles:

REALITY?

I’m going down fast with no soft landing.

No longer do I know what I knew, really KNEW!

Embryos and corpses  collide as parachute

jumpers drown

in puddles amid hills of salt  from which rises

the fabled Atlantis.

I’m present at the blow-out, but for naught.

No breath-taking poetry or inspired works of art;

no love, no troth, no arias, no green glades filled

with singing birds, no selfless devotion to exalted

visions or search for the truth.  Was there ever

any truth?  Who am I asking?

1. The Perpetual Traffic Jam:

Every morning, it’s the same old story – a symphony of honking horns, brake lights, and the perpetual struggle to inch forward. The traffic gods must have a sense of humor, testing my resilience as I navigate the daily grind.

2. The Mystery of Vanishing Socks:

Laundry day becomes a suspenseful journey into the unknown as socks seem to vanish into a mysterious black hole, leaving me to wonder if there’s a secret sock society plotting against my perfectly matched pairs.

3. The Unpredictable Weather:

Mother Nature’s mood swings keep me on my toes. One minute it’s sunshine and rainbows, the next it’s a downpour of epic proportions. I’ve learned to keep an umbrella and sunscreen within arm’s reach at all times.

4. Technology’s Quirks:

Ah, the wonders of modern technology! From autocorrect mishaps to the endless battle against Wi-Fi woes, each day brings a new chapter in the ongoing saga of navigating the intricacies of our digital world.

5. Monday Blues:

Who isn’t familiar with the relentless Monday Blues? The weekend feels like a distant memory, and the workweek looms ahead. It’s a universal sentiment that unites us in the collective sigh heard around the world.

While these may seem like minor grievances, sometimes it’s the little things that make life amusingly exasperating. So, here’s to embracing the quirks, finding humor in everyday struggles, and sharing a collective chuckle at the unpredictability of life. After all, a good complaint is just another way of saying, “Hey, I’m human too!”
